An introduction to Palazzina Alchimia

How would you describe Palazzina Alchimia in a nutshell?

Palazzina Alchimia is a vacation rental in the form of a charming, antique Puglian townhouse from the 18th century that has a modern touch and is tastefully furnished with designer pieces. It’s close to the main square in Fasano and has a beautiful roof terrace with views of the Mediterranean sea.

How would you describe the atmosphere at Palazzina Alchimia?

It’s an eclectic atmosphere where the traditional floors and walls offer all the layers and story of the original house but are combined with modern designer furniture, vintage lamps, and photography and art. It’s a nice mix of exploring Italy’s heel and living in a small Mediterranean city with a Spanish ambiance.

Which guests is this rental perfect for, and which guests should go elsewhere?

Our townhouse is ideal for guests who want to be independent. I would not recommend it to guests looking for a hotel-type atmosphere. We wanted to provide a space to relax and rejuvenate which is why we decided against adding a TV to the house. We do have WiFi, however it might not be strong enough for a work connection.

It is perfect for couples as a really romantic hideaway within the city or even for small families. The house has a lot of stairs, which might make it difficult for smaller children or anyone with mobile disabilities.

To you personally, what is so special about Palazzina Alchimia?

There is just something very positive and special about this townhouse, which I felt immediately, even before buying it. The lady who lived here before was very involved in the community and I guess she decided to leave some of her good spirit in the house.

Palazzina Alchimia is authentic but stylish. Many of my guests have come back as they were very happy with the house during their first stay here.

Palazzina Alchimia rooms & rates

The townhouse has two levels and is set up for up to 4 guests. On the first floor there is the living room, kitchen, a small bathroom, and a balcony overlooking Corso Garibaldi. The bedroom and bathroom are on the second level.

When you arrive, the first thing you see are the stairs that take you to the first floor, which has a very high ceiling living room and large kitchen and dining area. A few more stairs lead to a very nice balcony that looks out toward the sea. Yet a few more stairs go up to the bedroom with the open bathroom that’s divided by glass. There’s a double bed and some extra beds that can be added if needed. Finally, with a few more steps, you come to the terrace with the beautiful sea view. It has an outdoor shower and some beds and is a beautiful spot to relax.

Things to do in Puglia & Fasano

  • Art / Culture
  • Shopping / Markets
  • Massages / Treatments
  • Golf
  • Boat trips

The main three things our guests enjoy are the beaches, food and shopping. Many of our guests come here with the intention to relax and take a break from their busy life.

Polignano a Mare or Monopoli are less than 30 mins away and have some great restaurants to eat at. Trani, a beautiful little city that is about 100 kilometers from the house, is ideal for a day trip. Another nice day trip could take you to Lecce.

The nearest beach is about a five-minute drive from Palazzina Alchimia, and the farthest is about half an hour. I like Lido Bambù in Capitolo, which is a simple sandy beach that is family-run, as well as the Beach Club Taverna Da Santos, which is a rocky beach. There are also Buddha beach and Torre Guaceto, a natural reserve that is about 20 mins away.

We also provide a short guide to Puglia with our favorite places in the area.

The location of Palazzina Alchimia

The townhouse is right in the heart of Fasano in Puglia, Italy. It’s a charming, non-touristic Mediterranean little city with very nice boutiques, shops and houses as well as great restaurants. There is no parking problem outside of the working hours of the shops.

This part of Italy has it all. Puglia is very much unlike other areas of Italy in that it is neither very modern nor backwards. This region has great weather, the food is delicious and the people living here are very nice. The most special characteristic is the wonderful light you can experience here.

When is the best time to visit Puglia?

The summer months are perfect for guests who want to enjoy the beaches and go swimming. I prefer April, May, and October as these are the perfect months to relax and hang out in the parks and under olive trees. The winter months are the most inexpensive. It never gets too cold and the temperatures are very nice for long walks or staying at the house to relax.
