Blackheath Lodge is an eclectic boutique hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, and is proud of its high levels of service and individually decorated rooms. We are conveniently located in Sea Point, in the heart of Cape Town, a short distance from the Atlantic ocean. A number of world-class restaurants and the famous Cape Town beaches are within easy reach of the lodge.

What would you describe to be your philosophy at Blackheath Lodge?

Returning to Cape Town from being in the UK for 7 years, we felt strongly that we would like to make a contribution to the new South Africa.We have an amazing group of staff, without whom we would not have been successful. We believe in treating guests how we would expect to be treated and ensure that everyone gets to personally experience Cape Town.

The house was originally built in 1890. We have altered and improved the property to reflect our location in Africa with an eclectic mix of contemporary, Victorian and colonial style furnishings. The fact that guest only stay a relatively short time allows our decoration and interiors to be a bit more risky than in a regular home. We have 12 elegantly decorated air-conditioned rooms with private en-suite bathrooms at the hotel as well as a Loft Suite with beautiful views. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cup of tea and toast at 4 in the morning, you want to visit the Winelands but have not booked a thing, your flight arrives early and all you need is a shower and an English breakfast, or you want to try the best restaurants in the area but the guide book is a bit old – we will make sure to arrange everything so you can relax and enjoy your holiday. Tea & coffee making facilities are available on the main deck and meals at night are available on request. Breakfast is served on the covered, air conditioned sun deck overlooking the heated pool, which is the perfect place to relax throughout the day. We also offer a full laundry service, car rental, private door-to-door airport transfers and safe off-street parking.

Blackheath Lodge is right on the South Atlantic Ocean, in South Africa's second largest city, Cape Town. Only a short drive from Green Point Park, Cape Town Stadium, as well as Greenmarket Square, the Lodge is ideally situated for walks down the promenade, as well as visits to the city centre, the harbour, as well as the famous beaches like Clifton and Camps Bay.

When is the best time to visit Cape Town?

Summer in South Africa lasts from November to March, during which it is quite warm and dry. It is the most popular but also the most expensive time to visit. During the winter it does get rather wet, cool, and windy. However, neither season has any extreme temperatures, which makes Cape Town an easy all-year destination. We would recommend visiting during spring or fall as there will be fewer crowds and lower prices, all the while the weather is still good.
