Casa Aragón
Overlooking the Pacific on the Oaxacan coast, Casa Aragón is a stylish four-bedroom villa rental. Its breezy living spaces and infinity pool are just steps from a pristine beach.
What makes it special is its unique location in an astonishing beachfront environment.
How would you describe Casa Leria in a nutshell?
Casa Leria is a luxury beachfront property on Oaxaca’s Pacific Coast that was designed and built by the award-winning architect, Alberto Calleja. Offering amazing ocean views, it sits within the grounds of an ecological reserve, which is home to a wide variety of wildlife and miles of pristine beaches. The entire property was handcrafted with organic elements native to the Puerto Escondido region.
What is the story behind Casa Leria, what was your inspiration to create it?
There are several reasons why Oaxaca is special to us. Not only does it have an amazing culture, traditions, history, food and natural beauty but we have close family links to the region. For me (and now for my family), Oaxaca has been a second home since childhood.
Four years ago, while visiting Puerto Escondido to celebrate my wife’s birthday, we decided to look for a special place to build a house for family and friends. We never thought that we would find such an amazing location. Shortly after, we were introduced to Alberto Calleja, who is an outstanding architect and has built several houses in Puerto Escondido (including his own). He perfectly understood our tastes and needs.
Today, we are happy to share our home with people who also appreciate nature, architecture and design.
How would you describe the atmosphere and architecture of Casa Leria?
Casa Leria is a unique project that combines contemporary architecture and design with nature. The geometric elements of the property smoothly interact with the local environment, including its diverse vegetation. Based on a Japanese construction technique that creates a unique and clean feeling of minimalism, Casa Leria is simple yet sophisticated.
To you personally, what is so special about Casa Leria?
Its unique location, detailed architecture and design, all of which is embedded in an astonishing beachfront environment.

Casa Leria comprises a living room, dining room and open-plan kitchen covered by a 180 sqm palapa. Adjacent (and just a few steps from the beach) is a 17x5-metre infinity pool and a wooden deck, as well as an outdoor grill area. In addition, there is a three-storey entertainment villa with a TV room, a massage/gym area and a rooftop.
There are five separate sleeping quarters connected by wooden hallways, each of which has air conditioning and a ceiling fan, as well as an ensuite bathroom, dressing room and closet. All of the bedrooms are welcoming and spacious, with large doors that open onto the gardens and ocean views. There are two king-size bedrooms, two with two queen-size beds and another with two queen-size beds and two single beds. In total, Casa Leria can accommodate up to 18 people in absolute comfort.
There is an oceanfront infinity pool that measures 17x5 metres, as well as a 20x6 metre sundeck with plenty of lounge chairs. Aside from this, there is also an outdoor grill with a separate seating area and several hammocks for relaxing. Guests can take advantage of the gym and TV room, and there is complimentary WiFi powered by Starlink.
The villa comes with 6 staff: 2 cooks (between 8am and 6pm), 2 maids, 1 general maintenance staff and 1 night guard.
I would recommend visiting the Casa Wabi Art Foundation, taking surf lessons or participating in yoga and dance classes. There is also recreational fishing, whale, turtle and dolphin watching, not to mention sightseeing tours to nearby beaches such as Carrizalillo, Bachoco and Puerto Angelito. The sunsets at Punta Zicatela are not to be missed.
Casa Leria is surrounded by mango, papaya, and palm fields on Oaxaca’s Pacific Coast. This exclusive beachfront property is a 30 minutes drive from Puerto Escondido International Airport and 25 minutes from Puerto Escondido.
I would describe Puerto Escondido as a laidback Mexican surfing and fishing town, with unspoiled beaches, oceanfront bars and restaurants serving seafood and international cuisine. Puerto Escondido has recently become a hub for art, architecture and design, and hosts several music and movie festivals throughout the year.
All year round.
