An introduction to La Villa Lodge

How would you describe the lodge in a nutshell?

Offering magnificent views of the Dolomites, the lodge is located in the ski resort of Alta Badia. It features three modern design apartments, each with a unique style.

What is the story behind the lodge, what was your inspiration to create it?

In the lead-up to creating the lodge, we studied some of the impressive farmhouses and barns found throughout the area. It was important to us that the house was anchored in the environment in a simple way, so our architect sourced inspiration from the mountains and nature of the Dolomites. We opened to guests in the winter of 2019.

How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of the lodge?

Each room is stylishly furnished and filled with the natural scent of larch wood. The furniture was specially designed for the house and is also made of larch.

To you personally, what is so special about the lodge?

The house is located in the middle of nature and, as a result, you become part of the natural world.

La Villa Lodge rooms & rates

The lodge consists of three apartments set across three floors, with each offering views in all directions. We welcome children of all ages, with those under the age of three allowed to stay for free. We charge a small per-day fee for children aged 3-13 years. 

The first-floor apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a private sauna, plus a large living room with a fireplace. There is a well-equipped kitchen and a terrace that can be accessed via glass sliding doors. 

The second-floor apartment is stylistically the same. But instead of a terrace, it has a four-season room that can be used as both an indoor and outdoor space. 

Our attic apartment has a more intimate character, with one bedroom and a balcony cut into the facade. It is suitable for two people and comes with a private sauna.

    The highlight is the gorgeous balcony. A quiet retreat with breathtaking panoramic views of one of the most beautiful mountainscapes in the world.

Included in the rates: a coffee machine with capsules, oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, sugar, tea and dishwashing liquid. Cleaning every other day (no cleaning for stays of three nights), final cleaning, weekly sheet change, towel and bathrobe changes twice a week, organic care products, bed linen, towels and bathrobe, bio-cosmetics, slippers, use of the elevator, bike storage, ski-room with boot/helmet dryer, parking space in the garage.

In all of our apartments, you will find a capsule coffee machine, tea and sugar, as well as other basic supplies such as oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, and dishwashing liquid. We also provide all bedding linen, towels and bathrobes, plus toiletries and slippers. Cleaning takes place every second day and at the end of each stay. Additionally, we have a bike storage area, a ski room with a boot/helmet dryer and a parking space in the garage.

For an additional charge, we can arrange for the delivery of organic bread and fresh milk every morning or for a private chef to prepare meals in the apartments. At the reception area, we have a small honesty bar that is stocked with wine and juice for guests to purchase. We can also arrange for private masseuses and other services on request. 

There are also two parking spaces per apartment in the underground garage inside the lodge.

Alta Badia is much loved by us Ladins and our guests for the wide variety of sports it offers. In winter, you can go skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, skating and cross-country skiing. In the summer months, the mountainous landscapes provide a backdrop for walking, climbing, running and biking. 

As we are located on the Gardenazza ski slope, you can easily ski to the Sellaronda or the majestic Sasso Croce, both of which are popular destinations. On our doorstep are two beautiful nature parks for hiking enthusiasts and we are on the route of the Dolomites Marathon for cycling lovers. 

The location of La Villa Lodge

The lodge is located in Alta Badia, a small ski resort in the Dolomites of northern Italy. Despite being surrounded by nature, we are just five minutes’ walk from supermarkets, restaurants, pizzerias and bars. We are directly on the ski slope and everything is within walking distance, so you don’t have to use a car if you don’t want to.

The lodge lies at about 1.400 meters above sea level, in the heart of Alta Badia. The Ladin mountain village is a popular holiday destination for true nature lovers, as it is surrounded by the UNESCO Puez-Odle Nature Park and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park.

When is the best time to visit South Tyrol?

In the winter months, I would recommend exploring the 130 kilometres of ski slopes in the Alta Badia ski area. In the summertime, both Fanes Sennes Braies and Puez Odle Nature Park are worth exploring.
