Villa Peduzzi
Villa Peduzzi is an architecturally designed villa that’s been renovated to a luxurious standard and boasts unforgettable views of Lake Como.
Whether you’re in bed, at the dining table or on the terrace, you always have views across the lake.
Monte Nobiallo
This is an incredible place if you seek utter peace and quieted want to enjoy the incredible view of Lake Como.
The casa sits on the lakeshore with direct and private access to the lake and views over the golden triangle Menaggio–Bellagio–Varenna.
Please read before you book: the property is located on a lakeside hill with roughly 150 steep steps from the street level to the rustico. There is a small cable car to transport your luggage on your arrival and departure, but you will have to walk up and down yourself. It is a 4-7 minute walk, depending on your personal fitness.
How would you describe Monte Nobiallo in a nutshell?
Monte Nobiallo is a space where you can be free and enjoy time away from everyday life. It’s a hideaway with design elements and all the luxuries you need.
What is the story behind Monte Nobiallo, what was your inspiration to create it?
We have visited the area around Lake Como a lot in the past and it was the first trip we took as a couple. We instantly fell in love with the area and I’m sure many others can share that impression. After a couple of years of visiting, we wanted to find an apartment to buy but instead found this rustic homestead.
We were astonished by it — the huge windows and views across the lake. It is located on an ancient vineyard, with the terraces still in existence, even if the vines were long gone. So we dreamt of recreating the vineyard and this is something we are still trying to achieve.
How would you describe the atmosphere and interior design of Monte Nobiallo?
It’s minimalistic but there is everything you need. It was important to us to have high-quality interiors that matched the character of the house. So the lower level is in darker colours — green, brown and black — while the upper level is much lighter and brighter as it gets the full sun. It is a completely different feeling between the two when you climb up the ladder.
To you personally, what is so special about Monte Nobiallo?
The views from everywhere on the property — whether you’re lying in bed, at the dining table or on the terrace, you can look out across the lake. We just love being there without the noise from the city and other people — it’s being free.
After parking at street level, there are 200+ steps leading up to the house. We have a cableway to transport guests’ luggage and groceries and we help them to do this during check-in and check-out. It is a 4-7 minute walk, depending on your personal fitness.
The rustico offers two floors. On the lower level is the kitchen and comfy dining table, as well as a cozy sofa lounge where you can sit beside the open fireplace.
A ladder leads to the upper level where the bedroom with a premium queen size bed and bathroom are, plus an additional sofa if guests are travelling with kids. There’s also a terrace on the upper level with an outdoor dining table and barbecue. If the ladder is too steep, there is also an exterior stairway that connects the upper and lower terraces.
Surrounding the rustico is a huge forest and there are no direct neighbours, so it does feel quite isolated. A set of stairs leads down to the lake where there is a small but beautiful spot to relax and swim that gets sunlight all day. If you prefer a pebbly shore, the closest public beach is 150 metres away.
You should definitely explore the lake from the water, either by ferry or by renting a private boat. We also like to cruise the lake shore by bicycle or you could take a Vespa tour. I’d also recommend visiting the town of Como, which has beautiful boutiques, and Milan is just over an hour’s drive away.
From the rustico, you can walk up the hill and directly access some of the region’s most famous hiking trails. There are also some villas that are open to the public, such as Villa Carlotta and Villa Balbianello, with botanical gardens and interiors that are as they were in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Our lovely old rustico from the 18th century is located on a beautiful hill close to the small village Nobiallo. It sits on the lakeshore with direct and private access to the lake and offers spectacular views over the golden triangle Menaggio–Bellagio–Varenna.
While the property feels very isolated, it’s only two minutes’ drive or 20 minutes walk along the lakeside promenade to Menaggio. Here there are lots of restaurants, boutiques and grocery shops, as well as access to the ferry that takes you up and down Lake Como. Bellagio is around 10 to 15 minutes by ferry while the town of Como is roughly 30 minutes by car, depending on the tourist traffic. If you walk north from the rustico for 20 minutes or so, you will find more restaurants.
We are surrounded by pure nature and our two lovely goats, it is a perfect spot to relax from your busy everyday life.
Spring is very beautiful because everything is juicy and green, with the weather very nice in May. But the summer months of July and August are best if you want hot temperatures and no rain, although this is also the busiest time of the year.
We like April/May and late September as you can explore on your own without a lot of other tourists around. Winter is also nice, but as the rustico is only heated with wood fires (there is no central heating) guests have to be willing to cut wood and prepare the fires to stay warm.
