— Andrea: “The views from the villa are spectacular – you can see both Lake Como and the mountains. It is the perfect place to bathe in the sun and relax.”

— How would you describe Villa Casasco Como in a nutshell?

Andrea: “Villa Casasco Como is a beautiful traditional, 1910 Italian Villa, which we have recently refurbished. The interiors are a mix of 20th-century design classics and vintage finds from our travels. We wanted to create a relaxing, calm atmosphere, a home, where you have the feeling of escaping from busy life and entering into a comfortable, private, elegant retreat. It is a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday or accessing the busy shores of Lake Como with just a 20-minute drive to Argegno.”

— Please describe the layout of the villa.

Andrea: “The villa with its 5 bedrooms sits on an elevated hillside on the edge of a little village and a nature reserve. Outside, we created various settings: within easy access to the kitchen is a Weber BBQ, a breakfast spot, a large wooden table underneath the trees for alfresco dining, which adjoins the outdoor lounge area. The second level leads to the covered gazebo, ideal for long slow lunches. And there is the pool with sun lounges – the views from here are spectacular, you can see both Lake Como and the mountains.

On the ground floor, we have the villa’s kitchen. It is fully equipped with beautiful marble top benches, a six-burner gas stove, dishwasher and everything else our guests could need to bake a cake or make a bowl of pasta.

The large living area has a working fireplace with comfortable couches leading through glass doors to the dining room with seating for ten. An original marble staircase leads to the upstairs floor where all five bedrooms are located.”

— Please tell us about the rooms of the villa.

Andrea: “In total, there are five bedrooms and three bathrooms on the upper floor of the villa. We wanted to be able to adapt the rooms to the different configurations and needs of our guests. We also custom made two king size beds to accommodate people who like a big bed. Of the five bedrooms, one is a master bedroom, with a king size bed and views of Lake Como. There is also a double bedroom with queen size bed and en-suite bathroom. A corner room, with balcony and stunning views of the valley and forest, also has a king size bed. Another bedroom that can be set up to accommodate either twin singles or a double bed, which can come in quite handy for families with children or guests who prefer not to have a double. The last room is a reading room, with direct access to the terrace that also leads to the pool area, a large sofa bed that can be converted into one or two single beds.”

— How would you describe the atmosphere at the villa?

Andrea: “We have both been travelling the world for most of our lives, we know what we want and what we appreciate when someone has added those little extras and has gone above and beyond for us as guests. Our aim was to create an environment that was a little bit different, that would make you instantly feel at home. In fact, you should feel as if you have been given the keys to your friends’ wonderful house.”

— Please tell us about other facilities and services offered.

Andrea: “As a self-catering villa, we have really thought about what you need and want in the kitchen. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a gas Weber BBQ, which is used a lot as our local shop is known for some of the best meat and salumi in the area! We can also organise two local chefs to create a special meal of traditional local dishes at the villa – just relax and be looked after, perfect! And if you want to go out, we have a book with a collection of all our favourite place to visit. I always try and find out what our guests interests are, so we can help them find the perfect places for them.

With a year-round temperature controlled pool, we can offer an extended swimming season and the opportunity to enjoy the pool area and surrounds at anytime of the day.

And finally, it is also very unusual for houses at Lake Como to have direct access and private parking, which is why it is such a treat that we can offer this to our guests.”

— Who should stay at Villa Casasco Como?

Andrea: “They are travellers, not tourists, people who appreciate discovering the local way of life around Lake Como. This is not a touristy area, it’s local, it’s real Italy. People who enjoy the outdoor life, trekking, bike riding, water sports, discovering the local food and wine.

The villa is also perfect for anyone who wants to access the charm of the lake but who also wants to be at arms length from Lake Como. The areas surrounding Lake Como are wonderful, offering many opportunities to plan and access all sorts of adventures.

The villa is not really suitable for small children as there are stairs both inside and out and also the upper-level terraces. Having said that we are happy to have children… we have had numerous families and it is up to the parents to decide. It is ideal for families, as it’s a really safe area to let older children roam around freely. Many of the families who have stayed with us have recommended us to their friends as a wonderful spot for family holidays.”
