An introduction to Villa di Campo

How would you describe Villa di Campo in a nutshell?

Villa di Campo is a small hotel in the Trentino Dolomites, just north of Lake Garda in Italy.

Besides that, it’s my home, and it’s home for my guests where they can experience harmony and silence, and live in tune with the rhythm of nature.

What was your inspiration to open a small luxury hotel?

I am the fourth generation of hotel owners in my family. My father, grandmother and great grandmother were all hotel owners before me. In fact, I was born in a hotel.

Before opening Villa di Campo, I used to work in a big four-star hotel my father owns which has been in the family for 100 years.

Then, seven years ago I changed my life because I had a dream to do something different, to create a small hotel I can invite friends and guests to where they feel good.

Villa di Campo rooms & rates

We have 14 rooms at Villa di Campo, decorated in what I would call French country style with some Nordic influences. Some of the rooms are quite simple while others offer views of the park. In addition to the regular rooms we also have a suite and a room in the tower.

I think what’s special about Villa di Campo is the atmosphere, and the way it makes you feel. One of the most common responses we receive from holiday guests is how good they feel. You can feel the harmony here, and guests appreciate all of the people who work here as well.

We serve breakfast with home-made bread, cakes, muffin, jam and marmelade.. there are cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, juices and eggs

For lunch and dinner, again, everything is home-made including the pastas, and the cooking oils. We offer genuine Italian food with special attention to Trentino products.

We also have a spa and offer holistic massages for relaxation, using only organic creams and oils.

Villa di Campo is much smaller than regular hotels. It feels different here. We are very focused on health. We have an organic, biodynamic garden on the grounds and offer seasonal, healthy food based on what grows throughout the year.

You can go visit castles or a nearby Medieval villages. Geusts also go biking or visit Lake Garda. Many are here for romantic weekends so they just stay in. They mostly relax.

There’s a four hectare park that surrounds Villa di Campo where people can walk, relax, and enjoy the quiet and harmony of nature.

You can reach Lake Garda in 20 mins to go sailing, or do various other water sports. There is another, much smaller lake closer to us that’s very nice to enjoy as well.

And then, 30 mins from us are the Dolomites with beautiful Adamello Brenta Natural Park. It’s nice to have such different landscapes so close together.

And in winter you can ski in Pinzolo or in Andalo, which are both just half an hour away from Villa di Campo.

Villa di Campo reviews

Verfied Welcome Beyond stay
We would rate the stay with a 5 – very good. Villa di campo is a lovely little hotel with very nice staff. From owner to waiter everyone is very caring doing everything to make the guests feel happy – from massage appointments to medicine, from little snacks to a lovely place to relax with a mountain view. The food in the restaurant is also just perfect. Our room was beautiful, with beautiful view to the garden and the mountains. Would love to stay here again!

Verfied Welcome Beyond stay
Wonderful experience! We did end up staying at Villa di Campo for 5 days and it was a wonderful experience. It was my wife, my 16 month old baby and 2 good friends of ours that stayed there. Overall we would give it 9 out of 10. Cristina the owner was extremely lovely and charismatic. She helped us with whatever we needed and took the time to chat and explain the history of the building/hotel/area. They were very accommodating with our baby, providing baby chairs and special meals for him. The staff would also take him for walks sometimes to give us a break and everyone was very happy to have him around. The area was beautiful, with amazing views from our room window out into the valley with mountains all around. Plus there are a lot of activities in the surrounding area. We went hiking in the Dolomites, swimming in Lake Garda (and a few other smaller lakes) and we took a day trip to Trento. The other guests were also very eclectic/interesting (we met a dancer, sports psychiatrist, book reviewer and author, and a former Fiat manager) and we made a few new friends during our stay. The reason for not giving 10 out of 10 was that the food was good, but not the best we ever had in Italy.

The location of Villa di Campo

Villa di Campo is 22 kilometres from Lake Garda and 30 kilometres from Trento, at about 500 metres above sea level. We are in the middle of a very quiet countryside with not much else around except an old castle, a church and a convent. The landscape up here is very nice with a lot of natural places to walk, hike or bike.

When is the best time to visit Trentino?

Every season has its own particular feeling to it, its own special colors and scents. I can’t say which would be the best. In summer, you can probably do more, but fall in Trentino is my personal favourite with its extreme changes in colors.
