How would you describe Villa Syros I in a nutshell?
It’s all about the view, which is magical. Situated on a secluded hill on the island of Syros, Greece, Villa Syros I is the perfect spot for a relaxing holiday with friends and family. The villa has 5 bedrooms and offers a stunning view of the Aegean Sea and the Cycladic islands, a modern yet welcoming design and an infinity pool with sun terraces that will invite you to spend the day in the beautiful sun.
The olive trees and several herbs such as lavender, rosemary, thyme and oregano will bring you totally down to another level of relaxation. Entering the house immediately gives you the feeling of entering a home away from home. The modern design, the raw materials and the stone washed fabrics will satisfy all your senses.
The house features several common areas such as a living room with open kitchen, an infinity pool with an adjacent Jacuzzi, a BBQ and lounge areas as well as several sundecks.
How would you describe the interior design and architecture?
The Cycladic architecture is the basis of the villa, integrated perfectly into the landscape. The interior design blends traditional handcraft based on chosen natural materials and high quality fabrics with modern reduced design. It is also equipped with state of the art technology such as a central under-floor cooling/heating system in all rooms, automatically controlled humidity regulation, a geothermal heat pump and photovoltaic panels.
The villa was built out of local natural materials with two main objectives: to provide an extraordinary housing experience and to give the feeling of being ecologically in tune with the natural surroundings of the Kokkina mountain.
How would you describe the atmosphere at Villa Syros I?
The villa is the perfect place to be when you seek relaxation. When you enter the main house you will face the two most beautiful Greek elements: an olive tree and the endless blue sea. The style of the house is really cosy with warm natural materials like wood and stone, which makes you feel closer to nature – but in a very stylish and modern way. The atmosphere calms you down and you feel the stress disappearing immediately when you enter the villa.
Who should stay at the villa and who should rather book something else?
The villa has been rented by a variety of guests in the past. It is the perfect spot for couples looking for a romantic getaway, for families that would like to spend quality time together in an environment of luxury, hospitality and comfort and for friends who want to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays or bachelor/ette parties.
Where are the closest supermarkets and how far away are some restaurants you would recommend?
The closest supermarket is in the village of Kokkina, a 2-3 mins drive from the villa. It also offers our guests to deliver the shopping to the villa at no extra costs. There is also a bakery and a butcher next to the supermarket, both the best on the island. And the fisherman of Kokkina provides us with fresh fish on a daily basis if requested. The village also has a pharmacy and some nice traditional restaurants.
Other restaurants are for example Ono, a beautiful new bar-restaurant right on the beach of Agathopes, 10 min from the villa, offering delicious sushi and traditional cuisine. In Ermoupolis, a 20 min drive, are a variety of nice shops, restaurants and bars to have a drink and enjoy the views such as Mazi (most beautiful garden restaurant of Syros) or Vaporia (great views of Emoupolis). In Ano Syros, the old part of town, are several picturesque cafés and restaurants. And in Kini is the highly recommended restaurant Allou gia Allou, all in white and next to the water.
In the main villa there’s a spacious living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with a big cooking island and a dining room for 12.
The master bedroom features a bathtub and private terrace to enjoy views of the sea. Next to the main villa are 2 guesthouses with 2 ensuite bedrooms and private terraces each.
All rooms and outside spaces face the ocean, so no matter where you chose to relax, you have a totally different view of the amazing sea. The salt water infinity pool completes this piece of art connecting all rooms together.
Lots of wood, stone and a beautiful mosaic floor inside-out will make you walk around barefoot. Around the villa is a 500 m2 terrace with sunbeds and a pergola for shady areas. The feeling of being afloat while laying in a daybed watching the beautiful view from the 60 m2 sun terrace is very relaxing.
There’s an outdoor sound-system, a BBQ area and a spacious lounge for 12 protected from rain and wind to enjoy a sundowner and al fresco dining.
We offer a concierge service including the transfers to and from the airport/port, the organisation of excursions, helicopter services, boat and car rental, a chef, breakfast services, massages, a personal trainer or any kind of help you might need during your stay.
The first grocery shopping service is also included (bills paid by the guest). Our guests just send us their shopping list a couple of days before their arrival.
The closest beach is the Kokkina beach, a two minute drive from the villa. It is a nice natural beach with only locals around. We love this beach! Agathopes (10 min) is the top beach on the island with great facilities, a restaurant and a pool bar. Marmari and Grammata are also marvelous beaches but you have to take a boat to reach them. Delfini (15 min) is also a great beach as well as Galissas (7 min), which is a longer beach with some water sport facilities (not motorised).
There are activities like stand-up paddling, tennis, paddle boats, kayak (no motorised water sports are allowed on the island) and there is an open air cinema, which we love. We are of course happy to help with any activities or excursions during your stay.
The villa is located on the island of Syros, Greece, a 4 minute drive from the town of Finikas with all the everyday shops you need, a bakery, a butcher, a pharmacy, many supermarkets etc. The airport, the port and the town of Ermoupolis are 20 mins away from the villa. The closest beach is only 2 mins away, other beaches can be reached in a 10 minute drive.
What we love about Syros is the tranquility and elegance the island presents. It is the place to be not only during summer but the whole year. It is not a crowded, touristic place, it is still unspoiled and has kept its natural charm. And the people on the island are friendly, relaxed and helpful.
The best time to visit Syros is from May to June, the beginning of July and definitely September. The weather is great, some days it can be a bit windy but there is always a beach or a restaurant that is totally wind protected. In May there is lots of vegetation and wonderful wild bushes around. In June the sea is getting warmer and in September you can enjoy a warm Aegean sea with beautiful day light.
Even Christmas and Easter are wonderful on the island, with some heavy rains that only last for a short period of time but provide you with phantasmagoric views. The climate is warm and enjoyable the whole year around.
August is a wonderful month to come to Syros as well for people who like the streets, the beaches and the restaurants with more people. Anyway, the villas are all year around the perfect spot to be on your own, enjoying the beauty of the surroundings.
