An introduction to Arrowhead Lake House

How would you describe the Arrowhead Lake House in a nutshell?

As one guest recently described it, the Arrowhead Lake House is peaceful, private and perfect — it truly feels like an oasis. It’s so calming and an inspirational getaway that helps to eliminate the noise of the world.

What is the story behind the Arrowhead Lake House, what was your inspiration to create it?

I originally found the Arrowhead Lake House on Instagram! Jenni Kayne was renovating a lake house and I immediately thought, I want a lake house! I grew up going to lake cabins and being close to nature, so I wanted the same experience for my family and friends. I was astonished when it was for sale and from the moment I walked in, I somehow knew that it would be ours!

How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of Arrowhead Lake House?

The Arrowhead Lake House was designed by Jenni Kayne, who is the epitome of California cool. Her brand is all about living well and the Arrowhead Lake House exemplifies this ethos. I wanted to maintain that feeling of effortless style — a home away from home. It is very neutral, with lots of texture and beautiful details. Everything is light, organic and timeless. Every room has an incredible view of the lake, which in and of itself is magical.

To you personally, what is so special about the Arrowhead Lake House?

To me, the Arrowhead Lake House is a personal refuge and sanctuary. It’s a place to unplug and connect with nature, as well as family and friends. I am so excited to be able to share it with guests.

Arrowhead Lake House rooms & rates

The Arrowhead Lake House is set across three levels. As you walk through the entrance, you can go upstairs to the kids' room where you’ll find two twin beds and an incredible view of the lake. It’s light, bright and airy and has an ensuite bathroom with a shower.

Adjacent is a master suite with a queen bed that has a cute little reading nook featuring cashmere and alpaca pillows, plus an ensuite bathroom with a shower and a walk-in closet. Waterworks fixtures and Heath tiles were used throughout the house, as were high-end bath products and luxury linens.

If you walk back down the stairs and past the front door, you’ll arrive on the main level where you are greeted by a huge picture window with the most incredible view. On this level are the main living room, a queen bedroom and a separate bathroom with a shower and Toto bidet. There is also a dining room with a picture window offering amazing lake views and a well-equipped chef’s kitchen featuring beautiful details. Just off the dining room and kitchen is a deck with a barbecue and an outdoor table where you can enjoy alfresco dining.

From the kitchen, you go down one more flight of stairs and can either go right into the laundry/mudroom or left into the master suite. This spacious suite has a cosy fireplace and a low-profile king bed, plus a large walk-in closet that you pass through to enter the master bathroom. The master bathroom has a large, clawfoot bathtub overlooking the lake, as well as a shower and a Toto bidet. No detail has been spared!

Things to do in California & Lake Arrowhead

  • Hiking
  • Cycling
  • Scuba diving
  • Sailing / Kayaking
  • Boat trips
  • Fishing

In the summer, there is world-class mountain biking, waterskiing and hiking, while during the winter, you can go skiing, snowboarding, tubing, sledding and ice skating. The lake is a major attraction and a tour on the Arrowhead Queen is a “must”. Just a short drive from the Arrowhead Lake House is wine tasting, an award-winning brewery and fabulous shopping.

The location of Arrowhead Lake House

The Arrowhead Lake House is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac overlooking Emerald Bay, not far from the tiny town of Cedar Glen. Lake Arrowhead is around five minutes’ drive from the property while Los Angeles, Orange County and Palm Springs are two hours away.

I love this area because it’s secluded yet central. You feel like you are transported to a completely different place; a million miles away from the hustle, bustle and stress of city life. The views and crisp mountain air are hard to beat.

When is the best time to visit California?

One of the great things about the Arrowhead Lake House is that it experiences four seasons and is fabulous year-round! It really depends on your personal interests. During the winter, chains for your vehicle may be required, so it’s important to be prepared!
