This 18th-century house on three floors opens up onto the square in front of the medieval town cathedral. When strolling through the cobbled streets of the old town, it is one of the remarkable frontages that you can’t miss because of its period front door and the couple of cypresses that flank it.

The property is a fully restored neoclassical mansion in Ermoupolis’ historical center five minutes from the beach. The island is a paradise. It’s an oasis of calm and has an amazing, relaxed atmosphere. It’s secluded and private, without being isolated.

The island has two buildings — the villa and the pavilion. The villa has two large, en-suite bedrooms with king-size beds, air-con and ceiling fans. There’s also a large and well-equipped kitchen with a storage pantry, fridge and water oasis for cooking and drinking. It also has a sitting area and a laundry room for the housekeeper.

The pavilion also has two large, en-suite bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with two twin beds. It also features a covered seating area and what’s known locally as a rancho, with a hanging bed and large dining table overlooking the pool. It’s ideal for an afternoon nap or alfresco dining, with another rancho down on the dock for sunset cocktails.

There’s also a separate room for staff and a house tucked away where the island caretaker and his family live.

Granada is a UNESCO World Heritage city in the west of Nicaragua, overlooking the shores of Lake Nicaragua. It’s a very pretty and sleepy town, with lovely architecture and a good selection of places to eat, museums and a tower that offers magnificent views of the area. The marina is a 5-10 min. taxi ride from the centre of Granada and our island is 10 min. by boat from there. So it’s around 20 min. travel time from Granada, which itself is only 50 min. from the Managua Airport.

We have an elevated position on the island and beautiful views, but it’s also very private and nobody can see you. The Isletas de Granada are really unspoiled and beautiful, and although Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Central America, it’s also one of the safest and the people are super.

For the design of the pool, the desire was to position the pool as an integral part of the landscape. The rectangular pool (40m2) is close to the house, yet still surrounded by the century-old olive trees that are characteristic of the region. A great feature of the pool is the under­water sun shelve that enables lounging in less than a foot of water. The sundeck contains 4 very comfortable sunbeds. The one-off tiling and yellow umbrellas create an elegant yet very slick look.

The vill has a separate terrace with a fantastic and uninterrupted view of the Caldera. Both Oia villas also have all modern electronic equipment including Wifi and AC.

Oia Villa I and II are adjacent but self-contained cave houses that have been substantially refurbished since the owner acquired them a few years ago. They can also easily be connected if someone would wish to have a larger villa. The villas are very solid investment objects but can obviously also be used solely for leisure purposes.

The villa is recessed into the cliffside and presents a cozy atmosphere amidst the bustling tourist town of Oia. It was clean, quiet and comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was just large enough to prepare a light meal and the view was beyond stunning. The terrace is perfect for relaxation and unwinding with a book and a glass of Santorini wine.
