Mezi Plutky
Mezi Plutky is a small boutique hotel in the beautiful Beskydy Mountains, one of the best preserved hilly landscapes of the Czech Republic.
Staying at the house means having the space and time to contemplate, recharge, and find inspiration.
How would you describe The Chapel House in a nutshell?
For us, The Chapel House is a temple for living — a place to feel secure, reconnect with yourself and with nature, and enjoy small daily rituals. A place where there’s time to sleep, eat, read, and create.
What is the story behind The Chapel House, what was your inspiration to create it?
We wanted to create a space where our family could relax and find inspiration — something essential to us as artists. The house is located near the Baroque Château Kamenná Lhota, on what used to be its garden. Inspired by the idea of a chapel and the site’s historical context, we envisioned a modern Bohemian hideaway.
How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of The Chapel House?
The atmosphere is calm, contemplative, and deeply relaxing. Our goal was to design a space with a sacred, flexible character — one that shifts with the mood of the moment. You can gaze across the distant landscape, or close the space off for a more meditative experience where light and shadow play together.
We created a soft, harmonious flow that blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Architecture and interior design evolved simultaneously, shaping each other. The white plaster walls extend from the exterior to the interior, forming a unified space with built-in wooden furniture. A brushed cement floor in a warm, earthy shade connects the entire house.
To you personally, what is so special about The Chapel House?
For us, staying at The Chapel House means having the space and time to contemplate, recharge, and find inspiration.
Upon entering The Chapel House, which was designed by architect Jan Žaloudek, you arrive in a central hallway that connects all rooms on the ground floor and leads upstairs to the attic.
On the ground floor, there is a spacious open-plan living area with kitchen, dining room, and lounge under a seven-metre vaulted ceiling. Through large panoramic windows, you can gaze out over the orchard and the ruins of an old Baroque barn. The windows can be fully opened to merge the interior with the terraces and courtyard.
Also on this level are the master bedroom, a large walk-in wardrobe, and a window facing east — perfect for watching the sunrise or moonrise directly from bed. Adjacent to the bedroom are a bathroom with a toilet, another cloakroom, and a utility room for the house’s technology.
Upstairs, the attic features another large bedroom with a double bed, as well as a study with two single beds. This floor also includes a wellness bathroom with a bathtub and a steam sauna for deep relaxation.
Food & Wine
Guests can enjoy a fully equipped kitchen and a curated collection of natural wines. In the courtyard, surrounded by the remnants of the Baroque barn, there is a fireplace with a grill. On request, a private chef or delivery of products from a local farm can be arranged.
Relaxation & Wellness
The attic features a steam sauna for two, while the garden includes a natural cooling pond and a yoga deck under a centuries-old oak tree. Guests may also book a massage therapist or yoga instructor on request.
You can practice yoga on a podium under a centuries-old oak tree, bathe in the biotope, dine in the ruins of a baroque barn, drink Czech natural wine on a terrace overlooking the countryside or wander the surrounding breathtaking landscape.

Our personal highlights
The Chapel House sits in the gently rolling South Bohemian landscape, surrounded by forests, pastures, and ponds — just 85 km from Prague. The nearest historic town, Tábor, lies 17 km away and is known for its medieval old town and vibrant culinary scene.
Monínec Resort, only 9 km away, offers skiing in winter and a golf course in summer. Also nearby is Milevsko Premonstratensian Monastery, founded in 1184 and the oldest monastery in southern Bohemia. The famous UNESCO-listed town of Český Krumlov, with its winding river and fairytale charm, is 100 km away.
What we love most about the area is its romantic and varied landscape — forests, old castles, and quaint rural villages — all within easy reach of Prague.
Every season has its magic. Thanks to the large windows, you can experience the changing landscape from inside the house.
Spring: The garden awakens, the orchard blossoms, and the countryside fills with fresh air and life.
Summer: Swim in the natural pond, read under the shade of ancient trees, or enjoy a glass of natural wine on the sun deck during warm summer nights.
Autumn: Harvest apples, pears, and plums from the garden, watch the leaves turn, and light the wood stove as the evenings grow cooler.
Winter: Gather with friends and family, cook together in the generous kitchen, and watch the snow-covered landscape while wrapped in a wool blanket by the fire.
