An introduction to Therme Apartment 421

How would you describe the apartment in a nutshell?

Therme Apartment Vals is a small, stylish and cosy mid-century apartment.

What is the story behind the apartment, what was your inspiration to create it?

We have stayed in similar apartments within the same block and have always been interested in their design and architectural style. When this one came on the market, we seized the opportunity. The renovation incorporates the original built-in furniture while the existing holiday stove was enlarged to create a fully equipped kitchen with all the mod cons.

The project architect was Reidun Dolva Grand.

How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of the apartment?

The apartment is an ideal and well-appointed setting for two people. It is carefully curated with modern furniture and features a south-facing balcony that makes it a perfect, stylish nest.

To you personally, what is so special about the apartment?

It is cosy and well-furnished and you can walk to the thermal spa in a bathrobe. It’s literally one minute away on foot! Because it’s not close to the street, the apartment is also quiet.

Things to do in Graubünden & Vals

  • Art / Culture
  • Massages / Treatments
  • Skiing
  • Hiking
  • Cycling

There is of course the Therme Vals Spa or more hardy nature lovers might prefer to go cold water swimming in the natural lakes that dot the neighboring hills.

A natural health trail at the head of the village, the Vita Parcours, follows a section of the River Rhine. Alternatively, there’s a free ski shuttle and gondola that takes you up to Gadastatt, which offers ski slopes in the winter and hiking/biking trails in the summer.

Vals is still a very down-to-earth village, enjoy the authentic rural life and the beauty of nature, the stars at night and the sun rise over the mountains in the morning or get pampered in the spa and baths with the local warm source of water.

I would recommend visiting Peter Zumthor’s thermal bath/spa and the 140-metre-deep reservoir of Zervreila. It’s located at an elevation of almost 1,900 metres, with a 150-metre-long bridge connecting the two sides. From here, there are impressive views of the dam. A trail leads from the dam to Leis where you can enjoy a coffee or meal at the Ganni restaurant.

The location of Therme Apartment 421

The apartment is right next to Vals’ famous spa, the Therme complex 7132, and has a great view of it. You can even hear the water, it’s so close. Situated on the top floor, the apartment has a south-facing balcony overlooking the village and the mountains.

Because the Therme and its bar/restaurant are so close, you feel as though you are part of it. The restaurant, Da Papa, is situated in the same building and can be reached via a lift.

If you arrive by car you may drive up the ramp by the restaurant Da Papa and unload in the courtyard, the glass door will get you through the back entrance and you'll find the lift. Heated Ski and ski boots room provided in a room by the entrance hall.

When is the best time to visit Graubünden?

Vals is a year-round destination with hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. The thermal bath is open throughout the year.
