An introduction to Iceland Escape

How would you describe Iceland Escape in a nutshell?

Each lodge is designed for intimacy, with a refined, minimal interior where every detail has its place.

What was your inspiration to create it?

It began with a solo journey that shifted my rhythm. In Iceland, the silence, vastness, and ever-changing landscapes made me long for a refuge. At first, it was just for myself, but soon the idea grew — to share that sense of calm with others.

How would you describe the atmosphere and interior design?

The atmosphere is serene and grounded. Warm wood, clean lines, and carefully chosen objects create a space where nothing feels superfluous.

To you personally, what is so special about the Iceland Escape?

It’s the moment when all noise disappears. You hear the wind, the water, sometimes nothing at all. Watching the sky through the glass roof, soaking outside at midnight, or falling asleep with the ever-changing light — these moments reset you. The lodge may be small in size, but it opens an immense inner space.

What do you particularly like about this part of Iceland?

The sense of immensity. Contrasts everywhere — snowcapped mountains against the ocean, waterfalls tumbling down cliffs, glaciers in the distance, moss-covered lava fields. And above all, the light, constantly shifting, turning the simplest moments into something extraordinary.

What’s your policy regarding children?

Families are welcome. The lodges are not specifically designed for children, but depending on age and needs, we discuss each request individually. In many cases, it works very well.

The location of Iceland Escape

Iceland Escape lies on Iceland’s South Coast, directly facing the Vestmannaeyjar Islands and just 10 minutes from Seljalandsfoss waterfall. The small town of Hvolsvöllur is 15 minutes away, and Vík is approximately an hour away.

Surrounding the lodges are open fields, waterfalls, cliffs, and on clear days, stunning views of Eyjafjallajökull and the surrounding islands. Skógafoss is 25 minutes away, the famous plane wreck is 35 minutes away, and Reynisfjara’s black-sand beach is 45 minutes away. The lodge is perfectly positioned near the region’s most iconic sites.

The area is beautiful year-round. Spring brings longer days and awakening nature. Summer offers midnight light and easy driving. Autumn paints the land in rich colors and dramatic skies. Winter blankets everything in snow, allows for ice-cave visits, and offers the best chance of northern lights. Every season reveals a different side of Iceland’s raw beauty.
