An introduction to Ansitz Hohenegg

How would you describe Ansitz Hohenegg in a nutshell?

Ansitz Hohenegg is the perfect hideaway and retreat from stressful, everyday life. It provides a space to return to nature, relax and recharge your batteries. All you will hear are the sounds of the trees, the birds and the waterfalls at nearby Eistobel.

What was the inspiration/story behind Ansitz Hohenegg?

We operate a brewery in Bavaria that’s down-to-earth but high quality and completely authentic. For many years, we’ve been searching for a hideaway that complements our values and aspirations but had given up hope of finding it. Hohenegg was discovered by accident when we were out hiking one sunny day.

Planning was not easy, as Hohenegg is located close to the nature conservation area of Eistobel. In 2018, we finally started the renovations. No architect was involved, only regional craftsmen and authentic materials. The interior is a mix between tradition and modernity but with the luxury of space. It’s contemporary living in a traditional Allgäu mountain resort, combining today’s comforts with old traditions and values.

How would you describe the atmosphere of Ansitz Hohenegg and what do you love about it?

I think that guests decide what kind of atmosphere they create. Surrounded by nothing but nature, it’s up to you to envision what feels best.

When I return to Hohenegg, I can escape from all the things that make our everyday life complicated and stressful. The simplicity of nature combined with the luxuries of modern living is one secret. The other is that it’s the most silent spot I know. Just the sound of nature will recharge your batteries in a way you may have never experienced before. It’s a place to enjoy the sun, the fresh forest air and discover beautiful nature on a hike to the nearby Alps.

For whom is Ansitz Hohenegg best suited?

Let me explain it the other way around. This is what you will not find at Hohenegg: parties, crowds of people, passing cars or anything else that reminds you of life in the city. So if you’re searching for a place to come back-to-basics but with a high-end aesthetic, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Ansitz Hohenegg.

Parents can rediscover family time while playing with their kids, couples will find time to share their thoughts over a glass of wine, and grandma or granddad can reflect on their childhood. For kids, there are plenty of toys and activities to keep them entertained and for really small children, we have high chairs and extra baby beds available.

Ansitz Hohenegg is located in an area of the Allgäu that’s yet to be discovered by mass tourism. It’s still authentic with down-to-earth people, pristine nature and a calming atmosphere. It’s close to the Alps but still not too far away from civilisation. The local food is simple but high quality and you’ll find living traditions like the “Alm - Abtrieb” or the “Viehscheid”. It’s an honest, authentic and still ideal world.

At first sight, it might feel like there isn’t much around Hohenegg except for trees, meadows and forest animals. But great spots to visit are never far away.
