An introduction to El Palauet

How would you describe El Palauet in a nutshell?

El Palauet is unique in Barcelona. It’s very private. From the outside you don’t even see it’s a small hotel. It really expresses the vibrancy of Barcelona. In essence it’s like staying in a hotel and being surrounded by the typical elements of the city but not feeling like you’re in a hotel. It’s a jewel in Barcelona.

El Palauet rooms & rates

We have six suites, and each can host four people. No other rooms in Barcelona can host four people in this way except for maybe one famous hotel.

The hotel suites are very minimalistic. They’re open and clean as well as spacious, each being 150 square meters. Also, the suites are very comfortable because they have kitchens. This is nice for families who want to cook in their rooms.

The design of the hotel interior matches the originality of the building with contemporary elements from designers like Arne Jacobson and Philippe Starck. El Palauet is different, that’s the only word I can think of. I could say exclusive or memorable, but the key word is different. There’s no other hotel in Barcelona that is like it.

Elements manufactured in Corian and retroilluminated with designs inspired in ornamental features of the building allow the fusion of the contemporary with the antique. The ceiling of the living room is a unique example of virtuoso plasterwork characteristic of the modernista period as it verges on three-dimensionality. The ceilings of the bedrooms were also lavishly crafted with foliate motifs.

Guests pay the same price whether they’re renting for four people or for one, and that’s difficult to find elsewhere. We offer WiFi in every room, access to a private spa on the rooftop, a sauna, Jacuzzi, and a massage room. We are also available for weddings and other events and can cater for up to 300 people.

We have an assistant who helps our holiday guests and serves breakfast in their room if they wish. We do not have a restaurant, but a list of nearby restaurants from which they can choose and have food delivered to them.

We also have a concierge service, but it’s more like a butler who knows Barcelona, knows many languages and helps our guests with whatever they need.

Things to do in Barcelona

  • Art / Culture
  • Shopping / Markets
  • Night life
  • Cooking classes
  • Massages / Treatments
  • Golf
  • Boat trips

One of the things I can help with is to recommend really good restaurants, like some in the Jewish quarter or Pinotxo, a tapas bar at La Boqueria. La Boqueria is a public market in the center of the area, which can be interesting during the day.

Some of our guests like shopping and go to La Roca Village, which is about 40 mins away from Barcelona. We have a personal shopping company which can help them with their shopping.

We also have one of the best chefs in Barcelona who offers cooking lessons for our guests.

For kids, there’s a theme park at the top of the mountain. It’s not Disney, but it’s a typical theme park. There’s an aquarium and a zoo as well.

The location of El Palauet

El Palauet is on the corner of Passeig de Gràcia and Avenida Diagonal which crosses the city. It’s a secure area. You can walk everywhere. It’s very well kept and all the buildings have been restored.

The building has trees in front, a patch of green like a small park. It’s very pleasant and quiet but you are in the heart of the city, so there are many bars, shops and restaurants nearby.

It’s a 20 minute walk to Plaça de Catalunya. Alternatively, the tube is 20 meters away, and buses and taxis stop by.

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

The best time for me is when the weather in Barcelona isn’t so hot, but the problem with that time is it’s also busier. May and June are usually perfect because they are neither humid nor hot.

September and October are also perfect because weather starts to get milder. August offers the lowest prices since it’s not as busy due to the heat.

Barcelona is always busy but January, February, November and December are the months where you’ll find the fewest people in town.
