Onar Andros
Located in one of the few remaining unspoiled places of Greece, Onar Andros offers ten holiday cottages only steps away from the sandy beaches of the small island of Andros.
Éros Kéros is an elegant place to rest between the stars and the sea.
Éros Kéros
The size of the island allows you to explore it by foot or bicycle. Some of the most beautiful beaches of all of Greece are within a few minutes walk.
You cannot fly directly to Koufonisia but need to take a ferry from Mykonos, Santorini, Athens or Naxos.
How would you describe Éros Kéros in a nutshell?
Éros Kéros is a constellation of four caringly-built and beautifully-appointed Cycladic houses that feel like your own Greek home where your every need is taken care of.
Warmth, discrete luxury, and being in harmony with nature, are the ideas that inspired the design of Éros Kéros – from the architecture to the details of each room, and even the position of our olive and lemon trees.
Éros Kéros is an elegant place to rest, dream, restore, be inspired, and live beautifully, between the stars and the sea. It is the ideal place for those who appreciate discrete luxury and love being away from everything.
What we have that you can find nowhere else on the planet: a constant, majestic view of Keros, considered by some even more essential than Delos, one of the most important mythological and archaeological sites in Greece. Keros sits directly opposite us and is wonderfully present in the view from every room. At night, Keros slumbers like a woman in repose, by day she shimmers with possibility. She is a magical presence.
What’s the story behind Éros Kéros and what was the inspiration to open it?
We have been in love with the island of Koufonisia since our first visit here, almost 30 years ago. We were completely enchanted by its natural beauty and authentic, easy spirit.
Since our first visit, we’ve spent many years traveling the world, as students of hospitality and design. We then returned home to our most favorite island and put our impressions into action by creating experiences that our guests would love. Our aim is warmth, elegance and total serenity.
How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of Éros Kéros?
Éros Kéros sits on a gentle hill with a direct gaze onto the sacred island of Keros. Our guests tell us that from the minute they arrive, they feel a sense of serendipity and ease. We have taken great care to have the architecture integrate with the environment, and to find the most beautiful position for each house, our pool, the yoga pavilion, all the way down to each and every tree and plant.
We didn’t rush, we wanted to see how the light falls, and find the best place to see the moon shadows, sit and listen to the sea, and of course, enjoy the view of Keros and Amorgos islands across the Aegean.
Éros Kéros is a contemporary approach to the traditional Cycladic architecture. Four white houses nestled among traditional stone walls. It is a combination of local craftsmanship and Aegean identity.
We’ve made each house special in its own way, with personally-selected furnishings, as well as my grandmother’s old fabrics and artwork. We’ve also put our love into the details… spacious living rooms, airy bedrooms that all have an amazing view to the Aegean Sea and Keros island, fireplaces, marble bathrooms, private terraces, and our signature yellow windows, inspired by Greek churches, which give a warm light in the house during the day.
The spacious private terraces of each house give our guests the possibility to lounge during the day, read books, and enjoy a light lunch or homemade dinner (on request) during the evening.
There are four houses and a shared pool surrounded by a carefully trimmed landscape of olive, lemon and cedar trees, prickly pears, thyme and basil.
The houses unfold at two levels following the contour of the landscape and are carefully separated by traditional stone walls, plants and old ceramic pots. They form a consistent wavy unit interconnected by pergolas.
The infinity pool is situated at the lowest level above virgin grounds of local cedar trees, ensuring privacy and unobstructed views across to Keros island.
All houses feature Simmons beds and are adorned with the highest-quality linen sheets; and yes, they do offer you a better sleep.
All private terraces offer ample shaded space and comfortable sofas to relax in the shade or bathe in the sun.

We offer home-made breakfast with local products from Koufonisi and the nearby islands of Naxos and Amorgos, served at each private terrace. We have a small lending library accessible to all our guests. We also arrange complimentary transport from and to the port during check-in and check-out.
We’ve also created our own yoga pavilion that opens to a gorgeous view of the Aegean, equipped with everything you might need for your practice.
We help guests book and purchase their ferry tickets.
We make reservations for their dinners at the various tavernas of the island.
We offer laundry services at an extra charge.
We arrange in-house massages and yoga lessons.
We arrange beautiful excursions to nearby islands with small fishing boats or ribs.
We cook dinners on request and serve them at each private terrace.
We operate an open reception for 12 hours per day.
The locals say that with each day in Koufonisia you will do less. There is magic in this, and this is why we recommend that guests stay at least one week. The more time you spend here, the better!
You can stroll to some of our favorite beaches on the island like Platia Pounda and Fanos beach, two of the most beautiful sandy beaches of all of the Cyclades. They are just 200-300 meters away from Eros Keros and you can reach them through a flat coastal path and enjoy the beautiful sea-sculptured caves.
Pori beach, a lovely long beach with satin white sand, dazzling turquoise waters and one of the best beach bars that serves interesting dishes, fantastic cocktails and plays perfect music that blends with the scenery.
The natural pool, a hidden gem just 500 meters away from us, where you can jump from the cliff or sit on the rocks and enjoy the sound of the waves.
Or hop aboard a fishing-boat-water-taxi (also within walking distance) and go anywhere on the island or visit the sparsely inhabited Kato Koufonisi, with just a few rural houses and the small church of Panagia, which is a great place for hiking and swimming. Think, the long-forgotten Greece of the ’60s.
As much as you may not want to leave our homey environment, we do want you to get to know this wonderful island and its people!
These are some of our favorite adventures:
If you are adventurous, Koufonisia is the perfect island to combine with nearby islands such as Amorgos or Naxos so you have the experience of sea and land, nature and history.
Other islands that are easy to combine with Koufonisia include the rest of the Small Cyclades: Heraklia, Schinoussa, and Donoussa, all of which you can visit on a day trip.
The day trips on a fishing boat or a rib boat, perhaps with a picnic lunch of local foods, and a few of your favorite people, is very much a part of life here.
Paddle, wade and submerge yourself in the emerald turquoise water.
And, because you can really explore the whole island on foot, we also recommend doing just so. A perfect day could be one spent hiking (or swimming, sailing, or diving in the reefs) followed by a long laidback lunch at our favorite Cyclades-style taverna-bar that exudes the feeling of summer. Of course, you can also sleep in at home and then enjoy this wonderful lunch!
Eros Keros rests on the island of Koufonisia, surrounded on all sides by the Aegean sea and facing the archaeological island of Keros. Koufonisia is part of the Small Cyclades complex in the center of the Aegean Sea. It remains a tiny, remote gem among them. It is quiet, full of good vibes and altogether reinvigorating.
Koufonisia casts a spell that is lingering and languid. The size of the island allows you to explore it on foot, so cars are not necessary, and we promise, you will not miss them. The feeling is relaxed, easy-going and of another time. Everyone either walks or cycles and enjoys the blissfully endless sea views and natural pools of the island. Our guests also love the free feeling of getting around the island on small fishing boats and strolling to dinner. Many of the people who visit Koufonisia have a longstanding love for the island, like us, so there is a feeling of friendliness and respect here.
The sea here is also unlike anywhere else, even in Greece. You will swear it is bluer, saltier, more magical and transparent, holding more shades of blue. You will see for yourself as you discover some of our favorite beaches, like Platia Pounda (or Italida as many people call it) Fanos and Pori.
The goal of Koufonisia is not to visit attractions but to slip into the spirit of this special island and its different sense of time and place.
And here is how you get to the island: Either fly direct to Mykonos or Santorini and then board the Sea-Jet hovercraft to Koufonisi (one and half hours boat trip).
Or fly to Athens and then make your way to Piraeus port to take the high-speed ferry (four and a half hours) or the Blue Star ferry (five and a half hours boat trip) to Koufonisi.
Or fly to Naxos from Athens (35 minutes flight) and then take one of the three daily ferry services available (40 minutes up to 2 hours depending on the choice of ferry).
Koufonisia is beautiful from springtime all the way to the end of October. I personally prefer being there in May and June where there are few tourists and the days are longer but also in September and October where you can enjoy amazing full moons and sky palettes that seem unreal.
