How would you describe Nelya Suites in a nutshell?

An authentic, luxurious hideaway located on a family estate on the caldera cliffs of Santorini. The unparalleled beauty of the sky changing colour, the breathtaking views across the island and the blue of the Aegean Sea will make you travel through your senses.

What is the story behind Nelya Suites, what was the inspiration to create it?

The name of Nelya is inspired by the two daughters of the family — Nefeli and Lydia. According to Greek mythology, Nefeli was the Goddess of Hospitality. Lydia comes from the "Lydian stone" (as it was called in ancient times) — a hard, black stone that was abundant in the region of Lydia. Through the Lydian stone, the Ancient Greeks discovered how to measure what we now call carats.

Nelya was the favourite vacation home of the family and they loved to gather here with friends to create lifetime memories. Since May 2022, they have been sharing it with guests. 


How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of Nelya Suites?

Modern, Cycladic and minimalist. The hidden lights and candles create an idyllic atmosphere!

To you personally, what is so special about Nelya Suites?

Nelya Suites combines luxury, tradition and authenticity. After many years of experience working on Santorini Island, I believe it has the best panoramic views. It’s close to one of the most beautiful parts of the island but also not far from the crowds and is run by people who truly love what they do.

Nelya Suites rooms & rates

Guests are greeted by a 280 sqm outdoor space where three independent suites are located. In front of the caldera cliffs are the Executive and Deluxe suites, each with its own private jacuzzi offering panoramic views across the island and the volcano. Both feature private outdoor spaces with built-in sofas and furniture that embraces the elegance of simplicity.


A path leads behind to reach the most private suite, the Grand Villa. It comes with a heated jet pool and an outdoor space with atmospheric lights that offers guests exclusivity. Designed for families, this suite has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and can comfortably accommodate four people. We accept children 13 years of age and over.

At Nelya Suites, guests can participate in yoga and massage treatments, as well as private wine tasting and cooking lessons. On request, we can organize live music to accompany celebrations.

Private island tours are available with guides or guests can explore Santorini onboard a yacht or catamaran cruise. Off-road jeep experiences are also available, as are helicopter tours and horse riding on the caldera cliffs. Santorini has several beautiful hiking trails to explore and there are plenty of water sports available at the nearby beaches, the closest of which is 10 minutes away.

I would recommend visiting the village of Pyrgos and the lighthouse at Akrotiri. For a day at the beach, Vlychada is my pick.

The location of Nelya Suites

Nelya Suites is located in Megalochori, one of the best-preserved villages on Santorini. It’s just under five kilometres from the island's capital and seven kilometres from the airport. The most scenic black lava beaches are also five kilometres away.

Megalochori is ideal for exploring Santorini’s Cycladic houses, churches and alleys, as well as discovering its wine-making traditions and strong Aegean culture. The village centre is around 10 minutes walk from Nelya Suites and has many high-quality restaurants, with Alisachni being one of our favourites.

When is the best time to visit Cyclades?

For the best weather without the crowds, I would recommend visiting between April and June or September/October.
