Mirror Houses
Mirror Houses are two luxurious holiday homes in South Tyrol for 2 to 4 guests each. Their modern design is surrounded by apple orchards and incredible views of the Dolomites.
The surrounding glass facade provides the sensation of complete freedom and helps the guest to disconnect from stress and connect with nature.
How would you describe the house in a nutshell?
Freiform guesthouse is an architecture hybrid, something between a luxury guesthouse and a nature observatory.
The surrounding glass facade provides the sensation of complete freedom and helps the guest to disconnect from stress and connect with nature like no other building on the market.
What’s your background and what was your inspiration to create Freiform?
In my profession as an architect, I am looking for beauty beyond function and form. My wife Anni and I belive in sharing deep values such as freedom, respect and inspirational time for the soul. We wanted to create a refuge for friends, clients and special guests who appreciate the same things and perspectives.
How would you describe the architecture and interior design?
Freiform features a glazed facade in order to absorb the three-dimensional and peaceful landscape of the Tinne Valley.
The guesthouse is like an organism. Outside the hard shell, made of concrete and glass, inside soft and made of organic material like wood and loden.
And how would you describe the atmosphere of the house?
Freiform provides an experience of immediate tranquility due to the blurred boundary between inside and outside. Being in the middle of nature, one can dream in bed while watching the stars or clouds.
Since it is the only guesthouse on the property, it is very private.
Please tell us about the food.
We provide a fully equipped kitchen with a pre-stocked fridge on arrival for a South Tyrolean “Brotzeit” including a bottle of wine.
We have a small supermarket in the village and several excellent restaurants in the vicinity which we can highly recommend.
Is Freiform best suited for couples, families or groups? What’s your policy on kids?
The guesthouse is probably best suited for a couple (also with a dog), but we can also adapt the daybed to a double bed for 2 extra persons or 2 kids and provide a baby cot. We also have several toys for younger kids.
To you personally, what is so special about the house?
The house is part of our lifestyle. We stand for contemporary ideas, respecting tradition, nature, and the simple life — and we want to share it all with our guests. The house is a reflection of this.
Our exclusive guesthouse is located on our little organic farm in the middle of meadows in the sun-drenched Eisack Valley.
The kitchen features a Nespresso machine, Nespresso milk frother, water heater, Bialetti espresso maker, dishwasher, ceramic hob, fridge with freezer, tea selection, Nespresso capsules, olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar…
Intermediate cleaning and change of bed linen and towels for stays of more than 7 nights.
Reading or writing a book, listening to music, playing the guitar (there is a guitar in the guesthouse), observing animals (for example deer at dawn or dusk) and nature in general (there are binoculars in the guesthouse), wood carving, painting with acrylic paint, hiking, biking and relaxing afterwards in the guesthouse, going out for dinner or making a barbecue with local products and herbs.
City trips to Brixen, Klausen, Bozen, Meran. In winter sledging, ski touring and snowshoeing (for example on the Plose or Seiser Alm).
The highlights are: Sunrise on the Peitlerkofel mountain or Latzfons Cross Chapel; natural-track sledging in winter together with the vice world champion Martin; the Unesco World Heritage Geisler mountain peaks in Villnöss.
Freiform is situated within meadows and surrounded by old apple, pear and plum trees on our organic farm below the small village of Verdings with approx. 500 inhabitants. When you look to the west, you enjoy a great view of the mountains over the Tinne Valley and our several hundred years old chestnut trees. It is an ideal starting point for hikes and bike tours. The closest cities are Brixen and Klausen (both approx. 15 minutes away by car).
As the Eisack Valley is not yet so over-developed for tourists and still an insider tip, it offers the chance to discover the region in peace (for example a sunrise walk to the Kassian). We consider this as well as the silence and the clean air a luxury.
The Eisack Valley is especially known for the Törggele-time in autumn (the fifth-season). But every season offers the possibility for an active and pleasurable holiday experience. When you get the chance to witness unique moments like the first snowfall, a summer thunderstorm or a shooting star night, you will never forget it.
