Villa and garden - Villa Kaltern Piccola, in South Tyrol, Italy
— Florian: “The villa exudes a cosy atmosphere, with warm colours, lots of Italian influences, and a mixture of Mediterranean and Gothic Renaissance style.”
Interview By:

— How would you describe Villa Kaltern Piccola in a nutshell?

Florian: “In Kaltern, a charming Alpine village in South Tyrol, modern Villa Kaltern Piccola is one of two luxury villa rentals. This unique jewel combines contemporary comforts with an architectural past and a traditional village setting. Villa Kaltern Piccola is the smaller of the two villas and set into a soothing Mediterranean garden with sunbeds, a barbecue station, and a herb garden. Villa Kaltern Piccola sits on the bottom end of the property, while Villa Kaltern Grande is at the top. That way both houses face different directions, ensuring privacy for each group of guests.”

— Please tell us about the villa rental and the rooms.

Florian: “The house has three floors and can host up to six guests. On the lower floor are two bedrooms and bathrooms. Another room with a sofa bed can be converted into an extra bedroom if needed. Those bedrooms on the lower floor directly open up to the garden and the hot tub. The living spaces and fully equipped kitchen are located one level up, on the ground floor. The beautiful master bedroom with a private bathroom is located on the upper floor and also has a private patio.”

— Please tell us about the facilities and services offered at Villa Kaltern Piccola.

Florian: “There is a hot tub and a sauna. The garden at Villa Kaltern Piccola is big and full of Mediterranean plants such as olive trees and cypress and also has a beautiful fountain to enjoy. Villa Kaltern Piccola is fully equipped, guests have access to a washing machine and there is Wi-Fi and air conditioning in the house, as well as a TV and two parking spots in the underground garage. Also, for those who want to bring their dogs, they are more than welcome to do so.

We can also take care of our guests’ grocery shopping and cooking if they would like to take advantage of that. For example, when we had some guests staying with us who were celebrating their 50th anniversary, we organized dinner and breakfast for them. Whatever is needed, we try to help, for example by providing a cook for an evening, or helping with recommendations of restaurants and things to do in the area.”

— Please tell us about the interior design and general atmosphere.

Florian: “Our ideal was for the two villas to be turned into luxury rentals that exude a cosy atmosphere, with warm colours, lots of Italian influences, and a mixture of Mediterranean and Gothic Renaissance style. That is exactly the kind of environment one will find in Kaltern and the south of South Tyrol as well. The architect we worked with put great emphasis on the villas’ interior designs as well as bringing in custom-made furniture, either local or from Italy. We had also consulted an artist in regards to colours. Both of them had worked together before and did a wonderful job with Villa Kaltern Grande and modern Villa Kaltern Piccola.”

— To you personally, what do you think is so special about the villa?

Florian: “The location of Villa Kaltern Piccola is one of the things that make it so special. The view is amazing and even though we are centrally located, it still feels away from any town hustle and bustle. For those guests who enjoy preparing their own meals, they can easily walk to town and buy the best local produce without having to go far. The Mediterranean garden with its beautiful, quiet and private atmosphere is also wonderful.”

— What was your inspiration to rent the villas?

Florian: “We have always loved special places and beautiful furniture and therefore wanted to create something uniquely charming. When we had the opportunity to buy this property, we realized that we liked the city centre, but with a quiet atmosphere. Together we decided to give it a try for the next 10 to 15 years and see how guests receive the villas.”
