How would you describe Il Tuffo in a nutshell?

Il Tuffo is a unique place if you are looking for peace, nature, sophistication and authentic architecture. Even if you are looking for a base for a day at the beach or a visit to one of the many beautiful towns in the area. You can enjoy the different outdoor spaces around the pool.

What’s the story behind Il Tuffo, how did it all start?

After a few outings in Southern Europe looking for the ideal holiday home, we ended up with our old love, Italy. More particularly Puglia, where we have had wonderful holidays for several years. A special region where you immediately feel very much at home. In the winter of 2018, we discovered Il Tuffo, a lamia that has recently been rebuilt by a Milanese architect duo. With a lot of love for nature and the local architectural style, they have transformed the lamia into a very nice place to be. A mix of rustic and simple.

How would you describe the atmosphere at the house?

Il Tuffo breathes peace and space. You feel connected to the environment, the olive grove and fruit trees. Life inside and outside seamlessly merges. A charming mix of age-old architecture and contemporary elements give a feeling of simplicity, harmony and authenticity. Surrounded by beauty you come to yourself completely.

To you personally, what is so special about Il Tuffo?

Il Tuffo is a wonderful place where you can fully unwind. This is partly due to the house and partly due to the beautiful place where it is located. You feel connected to nature and the environment. It invites you to relax, read, enjoy cooking and especially to dolce far niente.

What’s your policy on kids?

Children are very welcome. The house is equipped with a baby bed and a baby chair. There are also books and games for children. The swimming pool and grounds are not fenced. Permanent supervision of small children is therefore necessary.

Il Tuffo rooms & rates

Il Tuffo consists of a kitchen where you can cook deliciously with the tastiest local produce. The kitchen is equipped with all conveniences, a large fridge with freezer compartment, an oven and dishwasher. A perfect espresso machine and milk frother ensure delicious coffee. You can use special items specially brought together for Il Tuffo such as handmade French crockery, antique silver cutlery and Le Creuset pan sets. For the chefs who also like to cook in the open air, there is an outdoor kitchen, equipped with a grill, with a terrace and a large dining table.

For those who prefer to have breakfast, lunch or dinner under the olive trees, there is a long table in the olive grove. The house has a double bedroom and a living room with comfortable sofas, suitable for a further 3 guests. The delightful swimming pool cools off on hot summer days, the lounge bed is a perfect place for a relaxing siesta.

The town of Cisternino is our favorite destination. We feel at home in this cozy town, with beautiful squares and beautiful alleys and streets. An evening out for dinner at Santa Anna is part of it. In summer they have a beautiful garden where you can eat delicious antipasti and risotto.

For a combination of beach and delicious fresh fish, we go to Bosco Verde in Torre Canne. The owner also has a very good restaurant in Cisternino called il Cucco. You eat very nice regional dishes and drink fantastic wines because they also have a wine trade.

We also like to be pampered at Le Palme Beach. A nice beach bar where they serve good cocktails. A visit to the ceramic town of Grottaglie cannot be missed during our holidays. And here too we make a combination of a visit to the beautiful ceramic workshops and our favorite restaurant Alfredo, a true culinary laboratory!

It is nice to see that Il Tuffo guests want to spend their holidays very differently. Some guests explore a town or beach every day, take cooking classes, or browse the local markets and broqantes. Other guests prefer to stay at the villa to relax, swim and cook.

The location of Il Tuffo

Il Tuffo is approximately 6 kilometers from beautiful Ostuni and 10 kilometers from Cisternino. You can reach beautiful beaches within half an hour. But cities like Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Alberobello are also nearby. Il Tuffo offers an ideal combination of cultural and culinary city visits, beach holidays, and relaxing at home.

Puglia is a unique region because of the many centuries-old olive groves that dominate the landscape. The beautiful white towns. The narrow country roads. The rugged beaches and the friendly people. Once an Italian friend told me that this is the California of Italy and I understood exactly what he meant.
