Trulli del Trappeto
How would you describe Trulli del Trappeto in a nutshell?
Combining 19th-century trulli with an olive mill, Trulli del Trappeto is a historic property with lots of stories to tell. It is located on a large masseria surrounded by nature within walking distance of Locorotondo.
What is the story behind Trulli del Trappeto, what was your inspiration to create it?
The moment we saw it, we instantly fell in love with the house and its serene feeling. It combines the spaciousness of the old olive mill with nine trulli — the whitewashed cones that are characteristic of the area.
An extensive renovation made the property not only livable but comfortable and elegant, without losing its original atmosphere. It really tells a story and retains the name it was given by the people who used to work here — the “Trulli of the Olive Mill”.
How would you describe the atmosphere & the interior design of Trulli del Trappeto?
The atmosphere is welcoming, inspirational and creative, as well as having an understated, luxurious feel. There’s an eclectic mix of old and new while always keeping in mind the history of the house.
From the sofas to the internal doors and the bathroom features, you will find artisan design elements throughout the house. The vintage decor and artworks complete the interior and make guests feel at home.
To you personally, what is so special about Trulli del Trappeto?
The combination of the high trulli and the olive mill makes Trulli del Trappeto unique.
Trulli del Trappeto comprises three buildings that are well connected but offer sufficient privacy: the trulli, the olive mill and a former stable. There are a total of six bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a central living room with lounge and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, an open fireplace, a laundry room and a home cinema.
In the former olive mill are three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, plus a shared lounge area overlooking the garden. External steps lead down from here to the swimming pool and the outdoor kitchen. In the trulli are two more bedrooms, which share a spacious bathroom that is suitable for those with limited mobility. They also share access to the main terrace.
And finally, the old stable offers a vast master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a private patio garden.
The fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge feature vaulted ceilings and arches, as well as antique tiling and a beautiful fireplace. All of the spaces have been decorated with a mix of old, new and custom-designed pieces, creating an atmospheric and tranquil environment.
Surrounding the villa are beautifully landscaped gardens that are dotted with fruit trees, including pomegranates, lemons and figs. There is also an extensive herb garden adjacent to the outdoor kitchen that guests are welcome to take advantage of. On hot, summer days, you can take refuge in the coolness of the old olive mill, which has been painstakingly restored to its former glory.
