Casa Arte
Casa Arte is a beautiful villa rental for sunny holidays with friends and family located on two hectares of private land and minutes away from deserted beaches on the Algarve.
I love the natural elevation on our land, which overlooks the surrounding rolling hills towards the sea.
How would you describe Villa Antonia in a nutshell?
Villa Antonia is a very private countryside estate with views of gentle rolling hills in a nature reserve and picturesque valleys leading to the sea. A tucked away authentic Portuguese hideaway for family and friends who enjoy privacy and seclusion as much as uncovering Algarve’s manifold facets.
What is the story behind Villa Antonia, what was your inspiration to create it?
Most of the 2ha land was formerly agricultural land surrounding the farmhouse of 130 years of age. The farmhouse was rebuilt and transformed keeping the most essential features from its layout to the central fireplace.
When it became our family’s vacation home we planted over 300 olive trees. In recent years Villa Antonia was reimagined for guests to create the quintessential Algarve holiday home.
How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of Villa Antonia?
The property and its surroundings are very authentic, it breathes ease — comfort, freedom and tranquility. The building’s traditional foundations, white-washed walls and bamboo ceiling is accentuated by the inviting decor and furnishings. There is a balanced interplay of local artistry alongside worldly collectibles. By respecting origins and traditions we nurture a cultural and spiritual connection to the place.
To you personally, what is so special about Villa Antonia?
I love the natural elevation on our land, which overlooks the surrounding ground towards the sea and rolling hills. The Quinta's white-washed walls standing drenched in sunlight against the open sky — it is the natural simplicity that speaks to all my senses; it is rooted in tradition and nature while reflecting a very personal style while instilling an immediate sense of belonging and sparking inspiration.
The quintessential Portuguese whitewashed villa reveals its privileged position atop the mountain, overlooking rolling hills and a picturesque valley that stretches toward the sea.
A discreet entry gate and long pathway lead to the main gate, which opens onto a line of tall cypress trees, an olive grove, and a stately carob tree at its centre. A double-sided staircase guides you to a cobblestone terrace shaded by olive trees, offering the first glimpse of the villa at the very top of the mountain, nestled within its lush garden.
Stepping inside, the dining area—featuring a large Brazilian oak table and an annexed, fully equipped kitchen—connects seamlessly to a spacious living room anchored by an impressive central fireplace. To one side lies a wind-sheltered patio with a dining table, while another door opens onto the west-facing terrace.
Perched in a tower above the main house and accessed via a beautiful white staircase is the Tower Suite (50 m²), the master bedroom. This lofty retreat features a king-size four-poster bed, a daybed/single bed (suitable for an additional guest or child), and an ensuite bathroom. A private rooftop terrace offers magnificent views across the hills and an expansive garden.
The Patio Room is a cosy single bedroom with a stone built-in bed, a shared bathroom, and access to a small library and television. The Terrace Suite includes a double bed, a television, and an annexed shared bathroom (shared with the Patio Room). The Garden Suite is a spacious double bedroom (30 m²) featuring a dusty-pink marble bathroom with both a shower and bathtub, a small living room with a fireplace, and direct access to the garden.
A terrace encircling the main house provides dining and lounging areas facing east, south, and west. A large marble table beneath a pergola serves as a favourite al fresco dining spot, complete with a BBQ and annexed satellite kitchen.
Just a few steps below lies the large swimming pool and a freestanding Guesthouse (25 m²) with a stone-built queen-size bed and an ensuite bathroom. This private hideaway, with its own rooftop terrace and located 40 metres from the main house, is ideal for couples or guests seeking seclusion.
The 12 x 4 m osmosis pool features a shallow end for cooling your feet or supervising young children. Three straw umbrellas, a shaded pergola with a dining table, and multiple sunbeds invite long, leisurely days by the water. The pool house includes both a shower and a bathroom.

Local olive oil producers and wine estates offer great tours and tastings. Our nearest beaches and islands are located in central Algarve, a 20-30min drive away.
Our surroundings have great hiking paths, seasonal lakes and fountains. The historical towns of Faro, Loulé or São Brás de Alportel are worth visiting. Loulé has a great farmers market and culinary spots to discover.
For further experiences and recreational activities our concierge service will be sending you our Insiders Guide and always be available for enquiries and additional bookings.
Many authentic towns and villages are in short reach of Villa Antonia. Situated above the small village of São Romão, Loulé is 15 mins and São Brás de Alportel is 10 mins away by car.
Both towns offer picturesque historical town centres ideal to stroll through, an array of good restaurants and shops, supermarkets, local markets with fresh regional produce, the best fish market of the Algarve in Loulé, bakeries and coffee shops to choose from.
The most beautiful beaches and islands to the west and east of the coastline of Faro are within 20-30 minutes away. And many more incredible beaches are within 40-50 minutes away. The Ria Formosa Nature Park with its incredible sandy beaches is 25 minutes away.
The city and airport of Faro are 20-30min, Lisbon city and airport are 2.5hrs and Sevilla in Spain is 1.5hrs away (+ 1hrs time difference).
The much-famed coastline of the Algarve from the west to the east offers many different beaches — vast, rocky and with stronger waves towards the west or warmer, shallow water on empty sandbanks and islands towards the east.
Apart from the captivating coastline the countryside and villages and towns with Moorish and Roman buildings bear witness to past cultures and traditions to rural life in Portugal.
The summer season starts earlier and lasts longer in Algarve. Everyday sunshine is almost guaranteed, from early June till the end of October.
The mid-seasons hold their very own charm, be it the Carneval in Loulé in February during almond tree blossom or the easter procession in São Brás de Alportel, the jacaranda blossom in June, the wine and olive oil harvests in October. My personal favorite months are June and October.
