— How would you describe Villa La Palma in a nutshell?

Ulrike: “Villa La Palma is a luxury villa rental on the island of La Palma in the western Canary Islands. It’s a beautiful place to watch the sunset over the ocean and the perfect place to be immersed in nature and Bauhaus-style architecture. The villa has everything you could want to ensure a great stay.”

— What is the atmosphere like?

Ulrike: “I am always overwhelmed by the expansive 180-degree views of the massive Atlantic Ocean and its tranquillity and peacefulness. The villa only adds to that. It is ambitious and luxurious in terms of design and furnishing, but at the same time there is a certain element of warmth, which makes the house even more special.”

— What inspired you to build it and rent it out to guests?

Ulrike: “I first set foot on La Palma about 15 years ago and immediately felt at home in such a powerful and inspirational environment. When I was shown the plot of land, I thought it might be a mistake not to build something there. Nevertheless, I decided to take on that challenge, and found a great architect from Berlin and someone local to help. I originally built Villa La Palma for my family, where the children could be downstairs on their own and I could rent one of the floors out to guests. Eventually, we decided to turn it into a luxury holiday villa.”

— Please tell us about the villa rental and the rooms.

Ulrike: “Villa La Palma entices with immense floor to ceiling windows and prestigious designer furniture, such as Saarinen, Jacobsen, Lissoni, and Starck. The villa is built in the modernist style and has beautiful terraced grounds with views over lush green hills and the Atlantic Ocean.

The upstairs panorama floor has a big living, cooking, and eating area with a terrace that connects to the master bedroom, boasting a large bathroom and spectacular ocean views. In addition, there are two other rooms; one is the entertainment room, and the other has single beds. There is also a second, smaller bathroom with a shower as well as a second, south-facing terrace that can be used for dining outdoors.

The garden floor is one big, loft-style room with a kitchen, dining area, sofa, and bedroom area. There is also a smaller room with a king-sized bed as well as two bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bathtub instead. All of the rooms on the ground floor have ocean views.”

— Please tell us about the facilities and services offered at Villa La Palma.

Ulrike: “The villa rental is pretty much self-catering with comprehensive kitchens. The kitchen on the ground floor is more basic, whereas the one upstairs is fully equipped. We provide coffee, almond firewood for the fireplace, and excellent Wi-Fi at the villa. Additionally, guests can hire a fantastic chef who can prepare delicious meals at the villa. If guests stay for over one week, a weekly cleaning service is complimentary.

There is a heated outdoor pool with lounge chairs and sofas. On request we can arrange for a variety of treatments and classes, as there is a lady who offers great massages, Ayurveda and yoga classes. Tennis courts are nearby and available for rent.”

— What type of guests would Villa La Palma be perfect for?

Ulrike: “Over the years we have had a lot of interesting guests who are fascinated by the architecture. But the apartments are adaptable for a wide range of guests. A couple or a small family could rent the panorama floor, as there is space enough for four guests. For a larger family or group, they can rent the garden floor so that they will have their own space with a kitchen, separate bathrooms and an entrance. In this manner, the entire house is quite flexible for most guests.

La Palma is perfect for people who enjoy overwhelming nature and activities – or a private peaceful hideway. However, the rental might not be ideal for very small children as we do have a swimming pool.”
