Villa Solea is a peaceful retreat in one of Puglia’s most sought-after areas, offering the perfect place to recharge. Surrounded by ancient olive trees and rolling hills, it remains just a short drive from cultural and culinary highlights, as well as pristine beaches. The villa seamlessly blends contemporary design with the region’s warm, traditional character, reflected in every detail of the house. It’s a place where you can feel deeply connected to nature while enjoying the sophistication of a modern home.
What is the story behind Villa Solea? What inspired you to buy and rent it?
When we first discovered this beautiful lamia, we were immediately captivated by its location—an elevated plot encircled by centuries-old olive trees. But beyond the landscape, it was the sense of peace and quiet that truly drew us in. Renting Villa Solea felt like a natural next step — we wanted to share this special place with others who, like us, appreciate the serenity and beauty of the region. The renowned architects at STUDIOTOFF did an incredible job transforming the space into a home that harmonizes perfectly with its surroundings.
How would you describe the atmosphere and interior design of Villa Solea?
Villa Solea has an inviting and refined atmosphere. The design merges traditional architecture with a clean, modern aesthetic that blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Luxurious materials such as marble and wood create an elegant yet warm ambiance. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered — from unique designer mirrors to modern, comfortable furnishings that reinforce a feeling of home. The photographs by Anders Schönnemann perfectly capture this distinctive atmosphere, showcasing how the villa’s beauty intertwines with its environment.
What makes Villa Solea special to you personally?
For me, the magic of Villa Solea lies in its ever-changing light, which creates a deep sense of peace. Mornings are my favorite — stepping outside at sunrise, stretching in the fresh air, or simply soaking up the gentle morning sun. Later in the day, the golden light of sunset over the olive groves, accompanied by birdsong, is equally enchanting. The villa’s thoughtful design allows you to connect with nature while indulging in comfort — something increasingly rare. It is my personal retreat, a place to recharge both physically and mentally.
The villa’s layout is both practical and elegant. At its heart is a spacious kitchen, featuring a striking marble backsplash and a long dining table that flows effortlessly into the outdoor dining area — ideal for alfresco meals under the pergola. Opposite the kitchen, a cozy sitting area provides a tranquil space for reading or relaxed conversation while staying connected to the energy of the home.
The three boutique-style bedrooms are intimate yet sophisticated, each offering plush bedding and privacy. The two bathrooms are designed with comfort in mind, featuring rain showers, marble sinks, and designer mirrors that add a distinctive touch.
Outdoors, the space is designed for relaxation, with a shaded dining area, a tiled sundeck by the pool, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen — perfect for hosting and entertaining.
Villa Solea offers everything needed for a comfortable and unforgettable stay. The 40 sqm private pool is surrounded by a spacious sun deck, with a shaded pergola perfect for lounging. The outdoor kitchen, complete with a grill and sink, invites guests to enjoy meals in the serene surroundings.
Inside, the villa is equipped for both convenience and luxury. It features high-speed Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a fully stocked kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, including a Sage coffee machine, refrigerator, oven, kettle, and dishwasher. Guests will find all linens, towels, and pool towels provided, along with organic Meraki toiletries made from high-quality natural ingredients. A utility room with a washing machine, clothes dryer, iron, and steamer adds extra convenience, especially for longer stays.
For families, a high chair and baby cot are available upon request. Additionally, guests can personalize their stay with bespoke services such as private chefs, local tours, or yoga sessions, ensuring a truly tailored experience.
At Villa Solea, relaxation is key. Spend your days by the private pool, dine under the pergola, or simply unwind in the peaceful garden.
For those seeking more active pursuits, the surrounding area offers excellent cycling and hiking trails through the olive groves. The closest beach, Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve — just 20 minutes away — is my personal favorite. Its protected crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply basking in the sun.
For families with small children, the sandy beaches of Torrepietra are also nearby, offering a perfect day by the sea.
In terms of recommendations, I love combining well-known spots with hidden gems:
Villa Solea is set in the heart of Puglia, just a 10-minute drive from Ostuni, the famed "White City." Surrounded by olive groves, it offers peace and privacy while remaining close to vibrant historic towns and beautiful beaches.
The Adriatic coast is only 20–25 minutes away, making the villa ideal for beach and nature lovers. Torre Guaceto, a protected nature reserve, offers pristine beaches and hiking trails, while Lido Ottagono and Lido Morelli provide livelier seaside spots. The Ionian coast is also within easy reach, featuring Caribbean-like beaches and charming coastal villages. The region boasts excellent dining options. Ostuni is home to charming restaurants, cafés, and bars serving fresh seafood and local specialities, while nearby Ceglie Messapica is another fantastic culinary destination.
For day trips, the UNESCO-listed trulli of Alberobello are a must-see, while Martina Franca, with its baroque charm, is just a short drive away. If you're up for a longer excursion, the historic city of Lecce and the coastal town of Gallipoli are perfect for exploration.
What I love most about this area is its authenticity and timeless charm. Puglia is a place where traditions are deeply ingrained in daily life, from food and wine to artisanal crafts. The landscape — endless olive groves, dry stone walls, and the shimmering Adriatic Sea — feels untouched by modern life, offering a true escape into nature.
Puglia offers something special in every season. Spring is magical, with the countryside in full bloom and mild temperatures ideal for exploring historical towns and nature. Summer brings vibrant energy, with festivals, lively beaches, and long, sun-filled days — perfect for those who enjoy a dynamic atmosphere.
Autumn is my favorite time to visit. It’s quieter, the weather remains warm, and it’s harvest season—ideal for food and wine lovers, with local vineyards offering tours and tastings. The golden light in autumn has a unique quality, reminiscent of Cape Town’s warm glow, giving the landscape a tranquil beauty.
Even in winter, Puglia has its charm. The streets are adorned with twinkling lights, creating a cozy, festive ambiance. The slower pace of countryside life in winter makes it even more enchanting — a perfect setting for a peaceful retreat.
