An introduction to Villa Salento

How would you describe Kubo in a nutshell?

Villa Salento is a minimalistic luxury retreat surrounded by breath-taking landscape of the Salento region in Puglia.

What’s your background and what was your inspiration to open Villa Salento?

I owned and ran my own advertising company in Milan for 25 years. I currently live between Angera (Lago Maggiore) and Lisbon. I bought Villa Salento while I was in the Salento region and fell in love with the area and the nature that reminded me of South Africa which I’m very attached to.

How would you describe the atmosphere at Villa Salento?

Villa Salento is a really relaxing spot. The privacy, the quietness and the amazing views are the perfect ingredients for an easy holiday far away from the crowds, especially during peak season.

What is so special about Villa Salento to you personally?

The sunsets at Villa Salento give you the most incredible emotions. Every evening you have different shows to enjoy. The stunningly beautiful surroundings are really special.

Please tell us about the food.

The quality of the food and wine in Salento region is excellent, so even if you buy fresh food and beverage in the mini market within walking distance from the villa, you can’t go wrong, you will always be delighted. Same if you decide to dine in one of our favourite restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Is Villa Salento best suited for couples, families, groups? What’s your policy on kids?

Villa Salento is the perfect escape for couples and groups. Children of all ages are welcome but please note that we ask to sign a letter not to hold us liable for any possible injuries since the villa is not really child friendly, especially the steps down to the pool.

Villa Salento reviews

5 of 5 stars
Verfied Welcome Beyond stay
A beautiful and sympathetically designed villa with exceptional views and excellent facilities. Every little detail has been considered to make your stay a very special one.

The garden is very well established with lots of plant varieties and there are separate private seating areas to relax in. A wonderful pool too.

Mimmo, the local agent, was attentive and incredibly helpful throughout our stay.

We stayed for one week (two adults and two teenagers) and didn't want to leave! We highly recommend this property and we will be back.

We loved the thoughtfully furnished house, the luscious garden and the wonderful pool. Mimmo was excellent and at hand anytime we needed him. We hope to be back, soon.

The location of Villa Salento

The Villa is located in the heart of the Porto Selvaggio nature reserve, nestled in a 4.000 sqm lush garden with indigenous and tropical plants, flowers and a fish pond. It is only a stone’s throw away from the most beautiful beaches such as Baia di Porto Selvaggio, Punta Prosciutto e Punta della Suina and the exclusive Santa Caterina village. The nearest shore is within walking distance.

Being inside a nature reserve gives you a different feeling, and the beautiful baroque village of Nardò, the village of Santa Maria al Bagno by the sea, Sant’Isidoro bay are all only a few minutes' drive away.

Nature here with its red earth, the olive groves and the bright sunlight are amazing, as are the nearby beaches.

When is the best time to visit Puglia?

September to November and April to June to enjoy swimming in the sea; all winter to enjoy the amazing landscape, the beautiful wines and food, the baroque villages and monuments.
