Casa Leria
Nestled within an ecological reserve on the Pacific Coast of Oaxaca, Casa Leria is an architecturally-designed beachfront house that boasts amazing views and easy access to pristine beaches.
It’s ideal for guests who want to enjoy seclusion on what is almost a private beach.
What is the story behind Casa Tropical?
Surrounded by coastal jungle overlooking a stretch of white sand, Casa Tropical is a beautifully designed villa near Puerto Escondido. It’s ideal for guests who want to discover the region while also enjoying seclusion on what is almost like a private beach.
How would you describe the atmosphere, architecture and interior design of Casa Tropical?
Casa Tropical and most of the surrounding properties are designed by the same Venezuelan architect, Alberto Calleja, and are quite Brutalist in style. They feature geometric designs and natural materials that integrate them well into the surrounding environment.
Casa Tropical features raw, reinforced concrete and open spaces, which are linked by elevated wooden walkways that make the entire property feel like it’s on a raised deck above the sand. Tropical vegetation grows lushly around the plot and has been allowed to naturally make its way around doorways and stairwells.
At the heart of Casa Tropical is an open palapa where you’ll find the main living areas, including a kitchen, a lounge and a dining space. From here, there are sweeping views across the coastline and the surrounding jungle.
Nestled just behind are the four bedrooms, including a master suite that overlooks a small pond and features a roof terrace for watching the sunset. While three of the bedrooms feature king-size beds, the fourth has two queens. All of the bedrooms come with ensuite bathrooms and glass walls offering inspiring views over the jungle.
The turquoise infinity pool allows you to refresh during the heat of the day before relaxing on one of the cushioned loungers. Alternatively, just steps away will see you on the sandy beach where you can endlessly stroll or watch the waves from one of the double sunbeds.

AMENITIES
Puerto Escondido is known for its surf culture and is a great place for enjoying beach life. There’s a long, sandy beach in the town that’s lined with cafes serving healthy breakfast bowls and smoothies, as well as some great seafood restaurants.
Puerto Escondido also has quite a nightlife scene and the sunsets are amazing over the Pacific Ocean. I’d also recommend checking out what exhibitions are currently being showcased at Casa Wabi.
Casa Tropical is located on the picturesque Punta Pajaros, around 30 minutes’ drive from Puerto Escondido. Puerto Escondido International Airport is 25 minutes away.
Nearby is Hotel Escondido, which has a great Japanese-style restaurant featuring locally caught, raw fish.
