An introduction to Comporta Beach House

How would you describe Comporta Beach House in a nutshell?

I would say Comporta Beach House is our refuge. It’s our never-ending project of love as a family house by the beach. It is in fact our second home and we love that way when we are there and love that our guests feel exactly the same. At home.

What’s the story behind Comporta Beach House and what was the inspiration to open it?

To open it was an accident. When we decided to buy the land and build the house we never thought about renting it. Only after it was finished we started getting requests, people would stop on the roadside and take pictures and asked questions about renting it. We also realized it could be an opportunity for improving it even further.

How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of Comporta Beach House?

I would describe it with one word — home. Additionally, I would say it has a very relaxed and cozy atmosphere. It’s also really open, airy and filled with sun and light. We took our time to find the right decoration pieces for each spot, meaning it has clearly been a labour of love over the years.

To you personally, what is so special about Comporta Beach House?

The architecture, the atmosphere and the location, with its amazing nature where you can feel on the beach and in the countryside at the same time.

Please tell us about the food.

Around Comporta Beach House you will find amazing restaurants with great local food. The closest one is Sal, 5 minutes away by foot, on Pego beach.

Is Comporta Beach House best suited for couples, families, groups? What’s your policy on kids?

It’s an amazing place for a family. Children are welcome. For babies we have a cot and a baby chair.

Comporta Beach House rooms & rates

The house sits around an interior patio. Every room circles around this interior patio which provides a very interesting, layered vision of the house. If you are in the kitchen, you can see through several rooms to the outside. The house has a very good kitchen for cooking while entertaining. The living room is also a beautiful place for gathering but the highlight is the rooftop heated swimming pool.

The layout of the house:

  • Master bedroom with 33 sq meters (ensuite bathroom): Queen size bed (160x200cm mattress), two side tables with lamps, area rug. Large closet area. Bathroom with separate shower, hydromassage bathtub, hairdryer.

  • Double Bedroom with 15 sq meters: Bed can be set up either as two separate single beds (90x200cm mattress) or as a king size bed (180x200cm mattress), one side table and floor lamp, area rug. The bedroom shares a bathroom with shower with the other bedroom.

  • Double Bedroom with 15 sq meters: Bed can be set either as two separate single beds (90x200cm mattress) or as a king size bed (180x200cm mattress), two side tables with lamps, area rug. The bedroom shares a bathroom with shower with the other bedroom.

  • Living room with 61 sq meters: Iconic suspended gyrofocus fireplace, 2 sofa areas, one for lounging facing the living room, the interior courtyard and the amazing view on the front deck (seats for 5). 2nd sofa area for TV (seats for 3). Flat-screen TV with cable set-top box (100 channels), and media center.

  • Kitchen with 40 sq meters: Fully equipped with Siemens Class-A top-end appliances. Dining area with table for 8 facing the interior courtyard. Toaster, Microwave, Nespresso coffee machine.

Comporta Beach House is located 10 minutes away from Comporta village, a charming small town in the Alentejo. The house sits next to Pego Beach, a short 5 minute walk away. It’s surrounded by beautiful pinewoods and rice fields. And Lisbon is only 1 hour away.

When is the best time to visit Alentejo?

From Spring to early Autumn is perfect.
