How would you describe Ebbio in a nutshell?

Ebbio is an organic farm from the 13th century set among the rolling hills of Tuscany. We tried to keep the agriturismo as original and authentic as we could, so you can really experience the old way of living in this beautiful countryside. It’s a simple life with the pleasures of nature and the beauty of the landscapes.

How would you describe the atmosphere at Ebbio?

Ebbio is the experience of countryside living. When you’re here you can find calm, tranquility and joy. We have a lot of pets and animals – donkeys, horses, ducks, chickens – and being a vegetarian-friendly place, the animals are happy. They like to interact with the guests and everyone here is very tranquil because of it.

Staying at Ebbio is an authentic experience. All of the floors are the in its original state, built in the 13th century. You see and feel the authenticity and it’s true to the naturalistic qualities of old century. When you close your eyes and think about Tuscany, it should closely resemble what you’ve imagined. Since this is an antique farm, the place is not too groomed – to keep it in its most natural state.

We have a lot of gathering areas at Ebbio but there are also areas where you can escape to and be by yourself. The property is very big so you can find peace and tranquility when you are here. Time stops once you’re here.

What was your inspiration to open the agriturismo?

In 1989, my mother wanted to escape from the city because she wanted to find a place to develop her passion and share it with people that were interested in country living. This is why we’re an organic farm because she was very mindful of what she ate. She believes being vegetarian is healthy for the body but also mindful to the planet. Simply put, we wanted a peaceful life and have people to come share this experience with us.

For what kind of guests is Ebbio best suited for?

Everyone can enjoy Ebbio – everyone from kids (as it is a private and safe place for them to play) to groups of friends (who can enjoy activities together such as wine tastings and horseback riding). Ebbio be the perfect place for people who are mindful towards nature because of the background and history of the property. My mother wanted to create a place for health and wellness and those who are mindful of that will get the best experience from Ebbio.

Ebbio rooms & rates

Ebbio is set on an organic farm of 7 acres near the medieval town of Monteriggioni. We offer 8 double rooms, 1 single room and 1 triple room for a total of 20 guests.

On the ground floor we have a kitchen used exclusively by a chef who prepares wonderful organic and vegetarian dishes for our guests. There is also a big activity studio with wooden floor accommodating up to 25 mats for yoga classes or other activities and on the same floor we have a massage room. And finally there is also a little shop with products we produce on the farm.

On the first floor are 8 double rooms, 1 single room and 4 bathrooms and all doubles can be made up either as twin or double. The rooms are quite large ranging 15 sqm to 35 sqm. The triple room with a private bathroom is located in another building.

And finally, we also have a large common area that is used for gathering together. There’s a large fireplace and two dining tables, although in summer, it’s recommended to eat the meals outside.

The rate includes the use of the whole property: 9 bedrooms, capacity for up to 20 guests, 5 bathrooms and the yoga room. 100m² indoor space in total and 7 hectars of beautiful organic garden and fields. Once a day cleaning service, towels, bedsheets are included.

Ebbio’s kitchen is professional use only. Outside we have a wood burning oven, we often organize a pizza night with the guests. On the farm, we have lots of animals and we cultivate olive trees, vineyards and plants for essential oils and a lot of vegetables and fruits.

We offer vegetarian meals and we try to use all organic products from the farm. All meals are well-balanced and very tasteful. We can provide chefs or even a nutritionist.

We often work with big groups such as yoga groups, workshops or corporate events and we can design packages and activities according to the wishes of our guests. Other things we can organize are ceramics classes, acupuncture, massage therapy and wine tastings.

We don’t have a pool as our farm is located in a preserved natural park, so we don’t have the right to build one. Everything you find here is authentic. And since our guests don’t have access to the kitchen, we are also happy to recommend restaurants for those who eat meat or want to try other cuisines apart from the meals we serve.

Hiking and horseback riding are absolutely beautiful here. We have so many hiking trails that go around our farm and we can also organize horseback riding tours, which we highly encourage. You can go at your own pace and discover the beautiful surroundings.

I would also highly recommend a wine tasting. We have connections with many fantastic wineries so we can organize a wine tasting and a visit to the vineyards, which is a great experience.

And finally, you should visit some of the neighbouring cities like the Monteriggioni, the city of art, which is 1.5 kilometers away.

The location of Ebbio

Ebbio is located in one the most beautiful and charming places of Tuscany. All you can imagine about Tuscany is here! We are closely connected to many cities and towns. The closest city (1 km away) is Monteriggioni, which is a beautiful medieval city with few bars, restaurants and shops – it’s not too touristy which makes it very nice. We are 11 km away from Siena, 9 km away from Castellina, and 42 km away from Florence. Although we have a private road, the closest highway is only 3.5 km away so it’s very easy to move in and out of Ebbio.

When is the best time to visit Tuscany?

The best time to travel is ideally from April to October. In spring, everything is waking up and blooming. In June and July, it’s a little bit warmer, the days are longer and the colours change. Daytime is warm but in the evening, things cool down. In August it’s pretty hot but you can go do an excursion near the lakes and rivers to enjoy the warm weather. September and October are magical because of the colours and the weather chills up slightly, making it a perfect countryside experience.
