Porto Suites
Porto Suites are an exquisitely designed small hotel with elegant and spacious veranda rooms in the cultural centre of Porto — for discerning travellers, made by travellers.
It is surprising to find such a quiet place with so much light and a garden in the middle of Porto’s historic centre.
Na Travessa Suítes
All rooms have wonderful views and an amazing breakfast.
How would you describe Na Travessa Suítes in a nutshell?
Featuring just eight rooms, Na Travessa Suítes is an intimate and unique accommodation in the historic centre of Porto. It has been created for those who appreciate urban architecture and design, as well as personalised service.
What is the story behind Na Travessa Suítes, what was your inspiration to create it?
It all started in 2007 when we bought a big house for us to live in and to accomodate guests. It was always a dream to live right in the middle of the city and have the opportunity to welcome people from all over the world.
In 2009, we opened the 6Only Guest House, which we sold back in 2017. In the same year, we bought this building and started renovations on what would become Na Travessa Suítes. We wanted to have a more central accomodation, with amazing architecture and design, but retaining the same level of guest service.
How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of Na Travessa Suítes?
One thing that you will notice when you visit us is the quietness, with a peaceful atmosphere as soon as you leave the city behind the main door. It is surprising to find such a quiet place with so much light and a garden in the middle of Porto’s historic centre.
To you personally, what is so special about Na Travessa Suítes?
Its architectural beauty and the welcome it offers people from all over the world.
On the ground floor is an old wooden table and a stone portal, which are illuminated by the skylight. A modern annex extends through the garden where peaceful breakfasts are served.
On the upper two floors are the eight bedrooms, with the four at the front featuring small balconies with views of the city and the São Sebastião Market. On the back side of the property are four additional rooms with larger balconies and breathtaking views across the red roofs of the old town toward the Sé Cathedral and Clérigos Tower.
The room is located on the 1st floor/front overlooking the São Sebastião market and the city. It has a small balcony.

Upon request, we can arrange an external laundry service, Douro region tours and transfers to and from the airport (or other destinations). We are also available to offer insider tips regarding local restaurants and traditional shops.
Walk, walk and walk…or ride a bike. I would recommend a visit to the Clérigos Tower and the rehabilitated Bolhão Market, as well as the old port wine cellars. The Sé Cathedral and D. Luís I Bridge are also highlights. Eating is also essential, with grilled fish and seafood being a local specialty. If you have time, take the train to visit Guimarães or Braga, nearby cities that are full of history.
Na Travessa Suítes is located in the historic city of Porto, with almost everything accessible on foot. Nearby is the São Bento railway station, the Sé Cathedral and the D. Luís I Bridge. On the other side of the bridge, you can visit the famous riverfront port wine cellars.
What we particularly like about Porto are its old buildings and the people. Although tourism is growing, Porto is still a genuine place to visit, with lots of traditional and local places that welcome tourists with a smile.
Porto can be visited throughout the year. But if possible, avoid August when it it most crowded.
