An introduction to Neos Eros

How would you describe Neos Eros in a nutshell?

Neos Eros is a private and elegant beachfront retreat on the island of Amorgos. Three independent buildings surround a traditional pebble-stone courtyard, ensuring that every room enjoys uninterrupted sea views. Spacious pergolas, a large saltwater swimming pool and direct access to a secluded beach create an atmosphere of complete tranquillity, while spectacular sunsets over the Minor Cyclades provide an ever-changing backdrop.

What is the story behind Neos Eros? What inspired you to create it?

Our love for the Aegean Sea and its restorative qualities inspired us to search for a place that felt peaceful, authentic and deeply connected to Greece's heritage.

After years of exploring Amorgos and considering numerous locations, we discovered this extraordinary waterfront property and immediately fell in love with its unique setting. Neos Eros was designed to celebrate the beauty of its surroundings while preserving the simplicity and timeless character of the Cycladic landscape.

How would you describe the atmosphere and interior design?

Neos Eros has been designed as a place to slow down, reconnect with nature and simply enjoy the rhythm of island life. The colours throughout the house are inspired by Amorgos itself, combining deep blues with earthy tones, olive greens, sage hues and warm touches of yellow.

Traditional Greek craftsmanship, carefully chosen antiques and contemporary pieces come together to create interiors that feel both refined and welcoming. Comfort, understated elegance and authenticity define the atmosphere throughout.

To you personally, what is so special about Neos Eros?

For me, it is the extraordinary closeness to the sea and the profound sense of calm the property radiates. The sound of the waves, the Aegean breeze and the ever-changing sunsets over Keros, Irakleia and the surrounding islands create a unique atmosphere.

Throughout the day, sailboats and local fishing boats quietly pass through the channel towards Nikouria, adding life to the scenery without disturbing its serenity. There is a rare harmony between nature, architecture and the sea that makes every stay feel deeply restorative.

Neos Eros rooms & rates

A private driveway leads to a traditional archway that serves as the entrance to the estate and connects its three independent buildings.

On one side of the entrance is an upper-level guest suite with a bedroom, bathroom, living area with a kitchenette and a pergola-covered veranda overlooking the sea. On the opposite side lies a second guest suite with a spacious bedroom, bathroom, sitting room with desk, kitchenette and two built-in beds. A separate entrance opens onto its own shaded veranda.

Eight steps below the entrance lies the central courtyard, one of the most distinctive features of Neos Eros. Surrounded by the buildings and opening towards the sea, it offers shelter on windy days while framing magnificent sunset views.

The main house is entered via a naturally lit hallway. A spacious living room is connected to the fully equipped kitchen through a traditional archway, while two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms occupy the more private wing of the house.

Outdoor living is central to life at Neos Eros. Three spacious pergolas provide shaded dining and lounge areas, furnished with seating built into traditional stone walls. Native plants soften the terraces and blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

At the lowest level of the estate, a stone pathway leads directly to the secluded pebble beach below, allowing guests to step from the house into the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean within moments.

The closest beach is directly below the property and can be reached via a private stone staircase in less than a minute.

At Neos Eros, guests spend their days swimming in the pool, reading under the pergolas, practising yoga, enjoying long outdoor meals or simply watching the colours of the sea and sky change throughout the day.

The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for swimming, snorkelling, paddleboarding, fishing, diving, hiking and boat excursions. Amorgos is particularly famous for its ancient walking paths that connect villages, monasteries and hidden beaches.

A short boat ride from Agios Pavlos brings visitors to the uninhabited island of Nikouria, whose crystal-clear waters and quiet coves make it one of the highlights of the area.

Although the secluded beach below Neos Eros is my personal favourite because of its privacy and ease of access, nearby Agios Pavlos Beach is equally beautiful, with its striking turquoise waters and spectacular views towards Nikouria.

The location of Neos Eros

Neos Eros enjoys a rare waterfront position in Agios Pavlos, on the northwestern coast of Amorgos. Hidden away at the end of a quiet road, the property offers complete privacy and panoramic views across the Aegean towards Nikouria, Irakleia, Schinoussa, Koufonisia, Keros and Naxos.

The landscape is characterised by rugged hills, crystal-clear waters and untouched Cycladic scenery. Despite its secluded setting, Neos Eros is only 5 kilometres from Aegiali, where guests will find cafés, bakeries, shops, excellent tavernas and one of the island's finest sandy beaches.

The picturesque villages of Langada and Tholaria are just a short drive away and are among the most beautiful on the island, with traditional architecture, narrow alleys and wonderful sunset views.

Directly opposite the property lies the small island of Nikouria, whose turquoise waters and pristine beaches can easily be reached by boat during the summer months.

What I appreciate most about Amorgos is its authenticity. It remains one of the few Greek islands that has retained its traditions, strong connection to nature and unhurried pace of life.

Ancient walking paths, hidden coves, crystal-clear waters and beautiful Cycladic villages make it a wonderful destination for those seeking simplicity, genuine hospitality and a deeper connection with their surroundings.

When is the best time to visit Cyclades?

Amorgos has its own beauty in every season.

Spring (April to June) brings wildflowers, mild temperatures and ideal conditions for hiking and exploring the island.

Summer (July and August) is perfect for swimming, boating and long days spent outdoors, with warm seas and lively village life.

Autumn (September and October) is my favourite time of year. The sea remains wonderfully warm, the island becomes quieter and the light takes on a magical quality. The sunsets from Neos Eros are particularly spectacular during these months.

Winter reveals the island's most authentic side. Life slows down considerably and the landscapes become dramatic and contemplative, offering a rare sense of solitude and peace.
