An introduction to Villa Gilda

How would you describe Villa Gilda in a nutshell?

Villa Gilda is a small luxury hotel located 5 kilometers from Forte dei Marmi between the beach and the hills of Tuscany. It’s a beautiful Italian family villa that was turned into a stylish boutique hotel with 7 suites, a sauna, heated swimming pool and beautiful gardens. We offer warm Italian hospitality combined with international five-star luxury amenities.

How would you describe the atmosphere at Villa Gilda?

It’s a very romantic atmosphere at the villa especially at night with these beautiful panoramic views but at the same time very elegant and classy during the day. Villa Gilda is like a boutique hotel but actually it is much more than that. We also own a renowned fish restaurant on the beach and one of the most beautiful beach clubs in Forte dei Marmi. With all of what we offer you could say that it’s the whole deal – incredible food, relaxation in style and luxurious living.

Who should stay at Villa Gilda and who should rather book something else?

In our opinion Villa Gilda is great for everyone. With the garden, pool and sauna there are enough options to relax and enjoy peace and quiet at the house. At the same time we are close enough to all the fun nightlife of Forte dei Marmi. Even for those looking for a base from where to go off into explorations of Tuscany, Villa Gilda is ideally located close to the Apuanian Alps and cities such as Pisa, Lucca, and Firenze. It is also right on the Tuscan coast with all its stunning beaches and small towns.

What do you particularly like about Forte dei Marmi?

This part of Tuscany used to be only frequented by Italians. Over the years more and more international tourists are starting to come here to explore real Italian vacationing. Forte dei Marmi is the most fashionable seaside town in Versilia. It not only has beautiful beaches but also exclusive boutiques, parks and gardens as well as great restaurants. The surrounding landscape is spectacular, truly harmonious in its beauty.

Our guests very much appreciate how much of an ideal starting point Villa Gilda is for any excursions, whether they are looking to explore the mountains or want to visit places of historical or cultural significance. There are so many beautiful villages here waiting to be explored. Pietrasanta is only eight kilometers from Villa Gilda. Viareggio has a boulevard with a shopping center and a factory where all the yachts are manufactured. And the most important places like Florence are only one hour from Villa Gilda.

Besides the beautiful outdoor pool with a sun terrace there is also a sauna. Massages can be organized, as well as beauty consultations. Bicycles are available for our guests to use for easy transport to the beach club and back as parking can be expensive and hard to find in Forte dei Marmi. We also offer a free shuttle service. Signora Gigliola prepares our daily breakfast buffet, which is available up until noon. With an extensive selection of freshly baked cakes, homemade jams, fresh fruits and local produce your days will start off just right.

Upon request we can offer a private lunch and dinner with dishes typical for Tuscany to be served at the hotel. However, especially during summer months, most of our guests go to our restaurant at the beach club, which is one of the best restaurants in Forte dei Marmi. The beach club is only 5 kilometers away from the hotel.

Things to do in Tuscany & Montignoso

  • Art / Culture
  • Massages / Treatments
  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Hiking
  • Cycling
  • Horseback riding
  • Scuba diving
  • Sailing
  • Boat trips
  • Fishing

There is plenty to do. If guests want to be active they can go hiking, free climbing and of course go swimming or wind surfing. The beaches here are extraordinary. I’ve been to Florida and other beaches around the world, but I couldn’t find a beach like the one in Forte dei Marmi.

I would also recommend visiting our beach club, which is truly a unique experience. It’s a paid beach club, but the service and the atmosphere are absolutely worth it. Guests have their own tent, table, towels, and pillows and can also receive massages on the beach. The beach club is not included in the hotel rate but we can offer a discount for Welcome Beyond guests. In July and August it is normally EUR 100 per day, but we can offer a 50% discount, and between in April, May, June, September and October we can include it in the rate for guests from Welcome Beyond.

Verfied Welcome Beyond stay
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Gilda. I would definitely rate it a 5, recommend it to to friends and stay there again. The villa itself was stunning, immaculate, couldn't fault it. Our room was beautiful with a great terrace. The food was the best we had in Italy, delicious breakfasts and dinners in the evening.

The location of Villa Gilda

Villa Gilda is located in the town of Montignoso, Tuscany, in central Italy, which is about 5 kilometers from Forte dei Marmi and the beach. The property is located in the hills and is accessible by car. However, at the same time it is only a five-minute walk from the town center with a pharmacy, bank, bar, laundry, pizzeria and some other small restaurants, a small store and a gelateria. It has pretty much everything our guests require. With a car it is only a short drive to the cities in the region, such as Viareggio, which is 18km, Lucca 34km and Pisa 39km from the villa.

When is the best time to visit Tuscany?

For Italian visitors I would recommend coming to Villa Gilda in August. However, for anyone coming from outside of the country, August will most likely be too hot and crowded. Therefore the best time for international visitors is in June and July. I particularly enjoy May and June. During April it is still a bit cold in Tuscany with temperatures at 17 or 18 degrees.
