Le Quattro Dame
Great location, carefully restored spaces, 100% made-in-Italy design.
How would you describe Le Quattro Dame in a nutshell?
Occupying a 19th-century noble palace, Le Quattro Dame is a luxurious and calm oasis in the heart of Rome. It has been designed with six individually-styled suites that are friendly and welcoming.
What is the story behind Le Quattro Dame, what was your inspiration to create it?
The owners were looking for a centrally located space and found what would become Le Quattro Dame in 2015. Over the course of a year, they completely renovated the property while retaining its 19th-century elements. The concept is based on a series of female portraits by the Renaissance artist Peiro del Pollaiolo, with his colour schemes and mood inspiring the interior design.
How would you describe the atmosphere & the interior design of Le Quattro Dame?
It’s luxurious, but not in a pretentious way. There’s an emphasis on human connection and ensuring guests have a memorable stay. Le Quattro Dame is a bit like a home away from home but with a focus on design, comfort and functionality. Rome is a city for walking and after touring the city, you need a calm oasis as a base to relax before heading out to dinner.
All of the furnishings and textiles are made in Italy — that’s the signature of the property. There are contemporary design pieces by Kartell, Viabizzuno and Meridiani, as well as accessories by Agape and Gessi.
The apartment building is from the Neoclassical period, with a lot of marble, and a porter greets you at the entrance downstairs. When you step inside the apartment, it feels completely different.
Inside is a small welcome desk where someone from our team is during office hours. This connects to the social room where guests can find extra supplies they need or wait for others.
We have four suites that offer panoramic views across the city toward the Chiesa de’ Gesu and the ancient site of Largo di Torre Argentina. One also has a private balcony. In addition, there are two more secluded suites (the Junior Deluxe and the Duplex) that look out across the courtyard.

Each room has an espresso machine and a selection of teas, as well as drinking water. Daily housekeeping is provided (unless clients don’t want it) and we provide high-end toiletries, linen and towels from a local store. There is complimentary Wi-Fi in all of the suites and a connection to Netflix and Sky TV.
While we don’t have a 24-hour reception, there is an emergency number that guests can use just in case. Someone is on-site during office hours for recommendations and we can arrange for additional services (such as in-room breakfast) on request.
Rome has an amazing contemporary art scene, with a highlight being the MAXXI Museum. There are plenty of modern art galleries to discover and guests can do a gallery-hopping tour with our art curator on request.
Between September and May/June, it’s nice to walk the Appian Way, the Roman-built road that leads into Rome. It’s around 20 minutes by public transport and ideally explored on foot or by bicycle. It’s dotted with sights and is something that Italian families like to do.
Le Quattro Dame is located in the heart of Rome in the neighbourhood of Pigna, which is adjacent to the Piazza Venezia and the Piazza Navona. We are in a part of the city that hasn’t been taken over by tourists, so it still feels local. The property is just three minutes’ walk from the Pantheon and 15 minutes from the Colosseum.
Around five minutes away is the Jewish Ghetto, which is famous for its restaurant scene, and just across the river is the historic area of Travestere. Campo de' Fiori is roughly eight minutes on foot. Guests can access everything on foot, so you don’t need to use public transport or taxis. I think this is particularly important during the hot, summer season when it’s nice to go out sightseeing and come back in the middle of the day to relax.
Rome can be visited all year and each season has its advantages. To avoid the crowds, I think it’s best in the off-season. Even in the wintertime, you can enjoy mild weather and sunny days over the course of a weekend. In July and August, it can get very hot but is okay for a couple of days if you’re heading to the coast.
