An introduction to Kefalonia Boutique Villa

How would you describe Kefalonia Boutique Villa in a nutshell?

The villa is a 35-square metre villa placed in the middle of a 200-square-metre exterior space. Although “small’’, it is designed to accommodate all of a couple’s holiday needs and it feels like a villa. We like to describe it as a ‘’love nest’’. All of the materials, furnishings, fixtures, lighting and details have been carefully selected.

What is the story behind Kefalonia Boutique Villa, what was your inspiration to create it?

We were looking for a property to renovate and as soon as we saw the house, it felt special straight away. The small square footprint of the house plus the tree – this picture seemed like a classic kid’s drawing. Not only can you stand on the road and overlook the property below but the staircase leading to the villa creates a strong sense of arrival - it feels like entering a secret hideaway. All of that inspired my creativity and I just knew that we could turn it into a small haven.

How would you describe the atmosphere and the interior design of Kefalonia Boutique Villa?

The villa has a minimalist style with a traditional character. It has been designed to reflect and blend in with Kefalonian architectural traditions, nature and colours, as well as the overall summery feel of the island. Architecturally, it features straight lines and clean elements while the atmosphere is relaxing, bright, airy, organic and clutter-free.

To you personally, what is so special about Kefalonia Boutique Villa?

It’s the love and care put into its creation - the details speak volumes! We think it’s like a miniature world with its own unique story waiting to be discovered.

The compact size of the villa is another reason it’s the perfect haven for a couples retreat, especially during the summer months because of the outdoor spaces. Without unnecessary clutter, it exudes serenity. The earthy tones and luxurious materials lend elegance to the space while its honest design ensures a genuine and authentic experience.

Additionally, the location of the villa offers the best of both worlds. It’s central enough for exploring the island yet secluded enough to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Things to do in Kefalonia & Agias Efimias

  • Hiking
  • Cycling
  • Scuba diving
  • Sailing / Kayaking
  • Boat trips

In Agia Efimia, you can go snorkelling and scuba diving with a PADI-certified school, rent a boat or go on a sailing cruise. Our favourite thing to do is hire a boat for the day and go to one of the small pebble beaches to the north, which are only accessible by sea and surrounded by green forest.

The closest beach to the villa is a pebble beach in Agia Efimia. It’s a 10-minute walk from the villa. Our favourite beach is Myrtos, which is 10 minutes away by car and particularly beautiful in the springtime.

In Agia Efimia, there are several enjoyable activities to consider. Here are three must-do experiences:

• Explore the surrounding beaches: Spend time discovering the stunning beaches near Agia Efimia, especially Myrtos Beach, known for its dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters. Also just a short drive away is Antisamos Beach, which offers crystal-clear waters and lush, green surroundings, and is perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

• Boat excursions: Take advantage of the village's proximity to the sea by embarking on a boat excursion. You can explore nearby coves, secluded beaches and hidden caves while enjoying the beautiful coastline of Kefalonia.

• Hiking and nature walks: Discover the natural beauty of the area by going hiking or on a nature walk. The hills surrounding Agia Efimia are crisscrossed by scenic trails offering panoramic views of the Ionian Sea and Kefalonia’s countryside. Along the way, you can explore olive groves and traditional villages while immersing yourself in the tranquility of the island landscape.

The location of Kefalonia Boutique Villa

Kefalonia Boutique Villa is located in Agia Efimia, a quaint village on the northeast coast of Kefalonia, Greece. It's known for its beautiful scenery, calm waters and relaxed atmosphere. The village is surrounded by green hills and olive groves, creating a peaceful setting. The nearby Ionian Sea provides stunning views and a tranquil ambience.

There are many restaurants within walking distance, the closest being just 250 metres away and the furthest 1.4 kilometres away. In between, you can find many cafes, bars and tavernas, plus a pharmacy, supermarkets and stores selling local products and beach accessories.

Nine kilometres from Agia Efimia is Sami, which offers plenty of amenities and ferry connections to the mainland. The Mellisani and Drogarati caves are also located near Sami. Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia, is approximately 30 kilometres southwest of Agia Efimia. Around 30 kilometres to the north is Fiskardo while Assos is 16 kilometres away.

Myrtos Beach, famed for its white sands and turquoise waters, is located a nine-kilometre-drive west of Agia Efimia. Thirteen kilometres away (near Sami) is Antisamos Beach where you’ll find clear seas, sunbeds and tavernas.

Kefalonia has a lot to offer. One of the things we really like about it is its natural beauty. The beaches are stunning, with clear water and beautiful scenery. The island itself is also very green, with rolling hills and dramatic cliffs that make for some amazing views.

Another thing we enjoy is the relaxed vibe of Kefalonia. Whether you're wandering through the small towns, eating at local restaurants or just hanging out at the beach, there's a laid-back atmosphere that's really refreshing. That being said, if you’re looking for busy beaches with bars and nightlife, that is also available.

We also find the history and culture of Kefalonia interesting. There are ancient ruins to explore, as well as monasteries and other cultural sites that give insight into the island's past.

When is the best time to visit Kefalonia?

Kefalonia offers beauty year-round but spring, summer and early autumn stand out as the prime seasons. Spring, in particular, showcases the island's charm as flowers bloom and the beaches remain serene and uncrowded.

While the daytime temperatures are pleasantly warm, the evenings are cool. With the weather still comfortably mild, it’s an ideal time for hiking.

Summer brings hotter days and balmy nights, perfect for beach outings and enjoying the starlit skies. Autumn echoes the beauty of spring, with temperatures gradually cooling down. This makes it another delightful season to explore the island.
